We recently visited Milwaukee for the Cubs game. we decided to eat at AJ Bombers after the game to see if they lived up to the Food Wars Best Burger Challenge. Absolutely, no doubt about it I had the Milwaukee burger it was juicy and tender add an egg for $1 amazing amazing flavors and they have a couple of different sauces. The atmosphere is unique to say the least peanut shells all over the place, but the Burgers were great.
If you are a fan of good Burgers don’t visit
Milwaukee without trying out AJ Bombers! It’s a 100 times better then Oscars!! 100% recommend AJ Bombers!

It’s been a long time and I have a lot of history here. Before it was bombers, my son owned it as Waters.Edge. Then I was part of the crew during the burger wars and the social media push. For me, this will probably be one last time before they close. It was nice to reminisce.

Popular hamburger joint that has a handful of very delicious hamburgers. The Bomber Sauce is a nice touch of flavor. They have these metal bombs they fill with peanuts and are sailed across the bar on railings to where customers sit. When the bomb hits its targeted table, shelled drop into a container onto the table. The bartender was very sweet and the Bomber I ordered was out so she comped me one. It was fun to read all the graffitti written all over the restaurant.

Went today before walking to a concert at Fiserv Forum. Start off with the cheese curds. They are so good! Not too greasy and the breading is just enough. Best ones I’ve tried in Milwaukee.
We ordered the Big Boy Tribute with tater tots and the Bomb Butter Burger with onion strings. They were VERY tasty! The Big Boy is like a BigMac. Finished off with a chocolate and vanilla frozen custard shake. It tasted super fresh.
Service was great! Very attentive and nice.

AJ Bombers continues to serve up nothing memorable. For a place known for its burgers, the menu is shockingly basic and underwhelming—nothing stands out. One of the quirks they’re known for, the peanuts on arrival, was missing, and that absence took away from what little charm the experience might’ve had.
I ordered a turkey burger, which was truly disappointing. The patty had an off-putting aftertaste, and I ended up removing the meat entirely. My partner got the peanut butter burger with an egg—it was good.
I can understand the tourist draw, but if you’ve got even a little time to explore, there’s a better burger joint on practically every corner. AJ Bombers feels like a spot coasting on its reputation rather than delivering anything worth returning for.

This is one of those meals I think about from time to time! I was in Milwaukee for a day hanging out. While I’m in a new city, I’m always on the search for what the locals eat. AJ Bombers was a great lunch spot for my visit!
The food was absolutely perfect and the atmosphere made it a memorable moment. The writing on the walls is unique and something I’ve really only ever seen in the bathrooms of a dive bar!
Recommend 10/10 if you’re hungry for a juicy burger and fresh fries!

We were served by Rachel and she was FANTASTIC!!! The food was also incredible, came out quickly, and was delicious. This may be our new date place!
The photo of the cheese curds was taken after we had eaten half of them and I decided they might be the best cheese curds I’ve had. (Sorry Culver’s!)

Cute little place. Burgers are 1/4 lb, which I liked. The perfect size for me. Maybe a little small for a big guy. I ate the turkey burger. My first turkey burger so I cannot compare, but I would have rather had a burger. I have to go back to try more food and a Bloody Mary.

We were disappointed that they changed the custard for the root beer float we ordered. This was our main draw that kept us coming back from Chicago. We even have ordered it on its own to go. The quality of the custard is cheap now and far too sweet, just not the same at all. The other issue we had was the pretzel bun I paid extra for to have with my Medusa was rock hard. We told the waitress and she told us that’s how the pretzel bun is but that also is not what I remember of the quality at Aj Bombers. Another thing I noticed is there were no special burgers. The rotating burger selection was the best. The cheese curds, tots, and onion strings were the best part but definitely not good enough to get us back to AJ Bombers. We are super bummed.
