We visited Cuero, TX as we were buying a vehicle at the local Chevrolet Dealership. While at the dealer we asked the sales person to recommend us a good place to eat, immediately he said Aimee’s Bluebird Cafe. After the dealership we headed over to this place. We were amazed to see it appeared to have been an older house and we love older homes so this started with positive vibe. As we entered we were greeted by one of the host and walked us to a main dinning room. We saw this place has a small bar area and then a main dinning room. We loved the older look of the walls, doors and wooden floor…it takes you back to your grandparents home. Eusenio Saenz was our waiter and he was just 5 starts all over. I asked Eusebio to recommend me on what to order, he recommend the Pecan- Crusted Checken Plate and Ccjicken Fried Chicken Special. He brought us home made rolls with cinnamon butter as they came with the meal…those rolls were delicious. Our main dish was just amazing. Honestly this two dishes were so full of flavor and so delicious. The taste of the crusted chicken was something we have never tasted before…it tasted so amazing delicious. I told Eusebio about it and he said it was the mangers recipe. Eusebio was so attentive and friendly. He even made a to go iced tea for both of us.
The menu is so extensive and full of amazing plates to discover that we are planning for our next trip to stop by and visit this amazing gem in Cuero, Texas.

With a cozy interior and a warm, welcoming staff, my feelings were positive and hopeful when I was seated at this cafe. The waitress, a kind and good-natured lady, enthusiastically spoke about the popular specials, appetizers, and sides. My expectations were set and I was ready to explore the culinary scene in Cuero, unfortunately I won’t be Gobbling up more food at this place in the future.

I want to first pay my respects to Brynna, my server. She was bright, pleasant, and knowledgeable. She answered all my questions and was very attentive. I was very impressed with her service. So keep being you, you’re not the problem at this cafe. You’re the reason I’m giving this place two stars instead of one.

Now let’s talk food.

I ordered the Fried Green Tomatoes. I can’t sugar coat this (but if I did they would probably be less bland), they somehow had negative flavor. Yes, the flavor of these somehow dips into the negative. I pulled out my calculator to make sure I did the math right and it all adds up. They are sliced way too thick and they are horrifically underseasoned. I’ve lived in Georgia. I like fried green tomatoes. Whoever makes these here has zero understanding of what makes a good fried green tomato. Thin, crisp, well-seasoned. You look at my pictures, it was like I was biting into a raw cucumber. I sent the dish away after taking like two bites and I was still charged for it.

The salad, nothing special, as basic as you can get. Inoffensive, complimentary, I can’t complain too much. It’s just very basic soulless salad.

There were also complimentary rolls and like a cinnamon butter thing. Quite alright. I don’t need copious amounts of sweet butter to start my meal but the gesture is appreciated nonetheless.

I ordered the pecan-crusted chicken, it was massive. And a side of asparagus. The asparagus, zero flavor or seasoning. I wish they tasted what they were cooking because that asparagus was sad. Like, I almost gave it a Xanax it looked so sad.

The chicken was cooked very well, and was the highlight of my experience here. Sadly it was also a bit bland. It could use a little salt because the crunchy pecan exterior was actually pretty decent. And it was sweet, but couldn’t taste much of the garlic in the garlic honey. It was, at times, a bit too sweet; that was why I was craving a little saltiness on the chicken to give it contrast and make it a little more savory. The coating came off pretty easily so after a while, it was just me eating pieces of bland chicken and crunchy bits of the fried coating, sometimes the flavors worked together, most of the time it didn’t. It was okay. There’s a place in Victoria called the Pumphouse and THEY have a pecan-crusted chicken and it’s executed a lot better.

On a final note,

Aimee’s Bluebird Cafe charmed me with its rustic appearance and friendly staff. Unfortunately, their food just isn’t very good. It’s incredibly bland, underseasoned, and poorly executed. I hope the people of Cuero find something else to Gobble on.

I just happened to be passing through and stopped here. The food was absolutely amazing! I had chicken fried chicken and asparagus. Yummy soft beautiful warm bread too. Salad. I will come here everytime I come this way. Best food so far ive had in Texas! Fresh hot perfectly seasoned and large portions. That and an ice tea was under 20 bucks!

This is such a cozy place. The atmosphere is giving Texas/New Mexico vibes. The service is amazing, our waitress was very helpful. Now the food… oh my goodness. It’s SO GOOD. The only downside is the price. It’s slightly overpriced. It’s a once a week place. But still a fun time. It would be a great place to have a party.

At first glance driving up, it felt country and we love that feel. Upon walking in it felt the same but yet the comfortable and inviting feeling was becoming moreso. And of course we loved that too . We were seated rather quickly and given our menus with a waiter whom we thought was very sincere and accommodating. He made a slight goof up and forgot to give us silverware or eating utensils. You could tell he felt embarrassed over it. As we were sitting there with our salads and no utensils. But he was very apologetic and again sincere. We appreciate the manners and professionalism. However with that being said let’s move on to the food. It was delicious!! My wife and I ordered the chicken fried chicken. Wow. Crunchy tender juicy and flavorful. Good job chef!! Overall experience we enjoyed every thing and will be back again sometime thank you everyone that we encountered. Great staff great scenery great prices!

We were excited to try Aimee’s for breakfast last Thursday and were so sad to leave without ordering. Cute place, old house cool vibe. We entered and stood at the front for a bit, (less than 10 minutes) no one around. So we thought maybe you were supposed to seat yourself, so we walked to the dining area to the left of the entrance when a young man came to the front, no greeting, bad mood and told us that’s not open, dining is back there “and pointed toward the back. “Then said there’s just 2 of us, so…… ” Turned his back and ignored us, no greeting, nothing. So we walked into the next area where the sweetest, brightest waitress greeted us and sat us. She was so cheerful and welcoming, 2 thumbs up. We all wanted coffee, only to be told the coffee machine was broken. We sat for a moment while she was getting waters for us. Decided we really needed that coffee! and decided to leave. Waitress again was so sweet and apologetic about the coffee, so we tipped her and thanked her and started to leave the same way we came in. Young man still there by front, looked at us, looked down, not a word. She was great, he wasnt, but maybe we’ll try again!

It had been quite a while since we last visited this place; I believe it had another name at the time.

Nice drive over from Shiner didn’t disappoint. Service was ok; just a tad slow, but courteous.

When I saw it I knew I had to try the BBQ Bacon Mac & Cheese burger. Of course I added fresh jalapenos (and they were nice and warm). The Mrs got the hamburger steak and garlic mashed potatoes. Delicious all around.

Make the trip over and check them out.

This place was a little house with added on porch, etc. It was absolutely adorable!! The food was amazing!! And reasonably priced. We had breakfast which is served all day. We’re all the way from OKC and it was great. Our waitress “Casey” was so sweet and worked her little heart out for our big group. If we’re ever back in town, we will be eating breakfast, lunch and possibly even dinner here. It was FANTASTIC.
