This Japanese restaurant has been our family’s favorite dining spot for over three years, and it continues to impress us every time. The value for money is unbeatable, with a wide variety of dishes that are fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. Whether it’s sushi, ramen, or bento boxes, the quality is consistently excellent.
The warm and welcoming atmosphere adds to the charm. The chef’s passion for crafting delicious meals is evident, and the staff are always super friendly and attentive. My kids love eating here—it’s one of the few places where they’re always excited to try something new.
We’ve celebrated several family birthdays here, and the experience has always been delightful. It’s also become a favorite for many of our friends after we recommended it to them!
The only thing we wish they had is 火炙壽司 (torched sushi). It would be such a fantastic addition to their already diverse menu. If they added it, it would truly take this place to the next level!
For anyone seeking a cozy, family-friendly Japanese restaurant with excellent food at a great price, this spot is highly recommended.
Everything about the food here and the staff was really nice. Our server was helpful and not overbearing with some charisma, and the food was as good as or better than pretty much any other sushi place we would go to.
The location can feel more like… cheap glamour. It’s a little raggedy outside, and while that’s not their fault, it does paint some of the picture there. Parking can be tough depending on the hour and you may walk from over towards downtown Redwood City. And lastly, the interior feels… like it’s made from balsa and leftover diner furniture… and the trademark diner carpet that’s easy to vacuum with one of those manual vacuum cleaners, you know what I mean? It’s clean, let there be no doubt, but it feels… from the early 2000s with just a nicer TV.
All in all, this place was great. If they get rid of that tacky awning out front and spiff up their furniture a bit, they could have a real good thing going as Redwood City continues to grow up.
I drive 2 to 4 hrs to come here . It’s become the golden standard of all sushi in my book.. and honestly, I generally don’t eat sushi unless it’s at AhiSushi RWC
These guys and Socorro are just the BEST! Thanks for the awesome food service and always kind convo!!
Have to say, the food and service impressed us. We arrived around 2 which there was almost no one during new year eve, and the staff is very warm to bring us water first without asking.
The menu is all very tempting, and we decided to order 3 rolls and 2 appetizers.
The fish is fresh and the rolls are flavorful!
The restaurant is very clean and wide as well.
Strong recommendation on this spot!
Note that most entrees start at $25 but it’s well worth!
This used to be our go-to place and it’s sad that we have to look for a new one now.
Update Feb 2026: Ahi Sushi has become our go to restaurant in Redwood City. I had the tonkatsu ramen tonight and it was soooo good.
