We went for our team dinner during Restaurant Week, when the restaurant was offering a special five-course menu. We all opted for the prix-fixe experience and also wanted to add a few items from the regular menu. At first, our waiter didn’t seem sure how Restaurant Week works and told us we could only order from the set menu. We checked with the manager, who confirmed that ordering additional items from the main menu should be fine. Once that initial confusion was cleared up, everything ran smoothly.

And the food is truly outstanding from the first course to the last. The trio sampler is a great way to start, and I especially loved the hummus; it was nice and thick, exactly how I like it. For my main, I ordered the grilled Mediterranean sea bass, and it was cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful. Every course that followed was just as impressive.

Service after the early hiccup was excellent. The servers were attentive, friendly, and kept everything moving at a comfortable pace for a team dinner. Other than the initial commotion, we had a fantastic experience overall. This is definitely a place we’ll be coming back to again and again.

Agora is a lovely Turkish Mediterranean restaurant with a very cozy and charming vibe. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a great spot for a relaxed meal or a casual night out. The food tastes great overall, with fresh ingredients and well-balanced flavors.

That said, the portion sizes are on the smaller side, which is something they could improve. Aside from that, everything else was quite enjoyable. Their tea and desserts really stood out and were especially good — a perfect way to end the meal.

Overall, Agora offers a great atmosphere, tasty food, and delicious tea and desserts. With slightly more generous portions, it would be even better.

We hosted our staff retreat dinner here and everyone pretty much loved everything they gave us to eat and to drink, including the mocktails. The pita bread is probably the best i have ever tried. It comes out warm, soft and very tasty. The hummus is also good and the desserts were also really great. The space is a bit small but we had a group of about 30 people and we did okay. The drinks were nicely presented & tasted great! I would certainly return & recommend for anyone who enjoys Mediterranean food. The ambiance is also really cute, especially the bar with the hanging plants

Went to Agora DC Mediterranean Restaurant on a date night with my wife over a year ago and somehow forgot to leave a review—better late than never. The vibes absolutely delivered. The atmosphere is warm, stylish, and perfect for a fun night out. The food was great across the board, full of flavor and well presented, and the service was solid and attentive throughout the evening.

One thing to note: it does get pretty loud, especially during the dinner rush, so if you’re looking for a quiet, intimate evening, you may want to go earlier or avoid peak hours.

Reservations are highly recommended because this place fills up fast. Bonus points for having a full halal menu, which is always appreciated. Definitely worth checking out for a lively date night in DC.

Agora DC: Promise, Polish, and Missed Notes

Agora DC gets much right at first glance. The room is modern yet warm, evoking authenticity without theatrical excess. Service is attentive, informed, and delivered with an ease that immediately sets expectations high. Unfortunately, the food itself doesn’t always keep pace.

The mixed mezze platter was uneven, ranging from pleasant to puzzling—one or two selections suffered from a damp, muted texture that dulled their flavors entirely. The falafel was disappointingly dry and bland, lacking the herbal lift or crisp exterior one hopes for. These early missteps were softened somewhat by stronger dishes that followed.

The Ali Nazik kebap had good underlying flavor, though it leaned heavily on onions, tipping the balance away from the meat. The Ottoman rice, generously perfumed with cinnamon, was rich and genuinely delicious, a standout on the table. Even better was the hibiscus lemonade: vibrant, tangy, and refreshing, executed with a light hand.

Agora is a place you want to like, and parts of it reward that impulse. Still, inconsistency holds it back. I’d return—with curiosity rather than confidence—and order differently next time.

Went to Agora for Valentine’s day dinner. The whole second floor was packed with 2 person tables. The set menu was ok, the food tasted decent, but nothing special you couldn’t cook at home. We got our second course plate before we had even finished half of the appetizers. Loud music and kind of noisy. Many better places to go to in DC

Amazing food, great and attentive service, with a lively atmosphere! Stick to the Mediterranean fare when you can if you do the all-you-can-eat brunch, to avoid filling up on unnecessary carbs, but everything was delicious! Our server, Vedat, was all smiles and made sure we were always topped up on food and drinks despite the enormous brunch rush. 5/5 would recommend!

Very delicious Turkish food and a great atmosphere! I had the Adana and Lahmacun—both were truly top-notch. My wife ordered the octopus and shrimp, which were also outstanding. A big thank-you to Ferdi for his warm hospitality; he was incredibly kind to us throughout our visit. We even hoped to take some olive oil back home to Michigan, but they didn’t have any extra on hand. Hopefully we can pick some up next time!

Love these small plate experiences as you can order a lot and taste more. We had five and sampled dips, the always available warm pita, salad, fish, bass, chicken kabob, lamb, and wonderfully textured desserts with lovely flavors. Great ambience, too. Must go in this cute neighborhood of DC.
