Now for the food. The fire roasted Brussels sprouts were very lightly seasoned, very crispy, and absolutely delicious! The clam chowder was potato heavy, creamy, smoky and more comforting than a soft crocheted blanket on a plush loveseat infant of a crackling fire. The sirloin was somewhat disappointing. Oh it was cooked to a perfect medium rare and it was quite tender, but the texture was off… kinda mealy, and it tasted eh… funky. It could be I wasn’t prepared for a parmesan crust, or maybe a wet aging process that could have gone better… oh well when I dipped it in the divine dill, thyme(maybe), and rosemary(?) butter sauce on my plate… mmm. Much better. Not great, but no longer 2☆. I probably will go back to the Chophouse. The price was good and my martini was excellent!
I enjoyed the Surf ‘n Turf. The sirloin steak accompanying the meal was cooked at the requested temperature the first two times I visited there to eat out in Norton. On the third visit my steak was cooked too well. However, I informed my nice server who happily made an adjustment to my check. The steak was tender and flavorful. The shrimp accompanying my sirloin was tender and tasty.
An officious gadfly has been criticizing the young proprietor for serving small baked potatoes. My only complaint is that perhaps there is too much salt in some of their offerings, particularly the shrimp and the mashed potatoes.
I have ordered three times the fried okra as the second side to my entrée. It was delicious.
Their cocktails are inventive. I enjoyed The Godfather (Amaretto and Scotch).
I enjoy the atmosphere and love the updates to the former Destination Kitchen, which previously occupied the space. Brightly lit, yet ambient. Spacious and pleasantly decorated, featuring roomy tables and booths that patrons may comfortably enjoy time with friends or family.
The front half of the restaurant is poorly decorated with horrible fluorescent tube lighting with ugly bed sheet looking treatments hanging from the ceiling. The back half of the seating area is quite nice with a very cool dining atmosphere.
We sat ourselves at the one clean, vacant table that was available.
After 15 min we were greeted and given menus. It was clear that they were short staffed for the number of tables that the space provides.
We eventually ordered our food after being notified that many items, including the Rib Eye Steak that I wanted, were no longer available. Since we had already waited nearly 30 min to order, I decided to order the NY Strip instead.
After 20 min or so, our salads arrived. The lettuce was soggy and warm. Not nice or edible.
After no less than 70 min of waiting after ordering, our food arrived.
The steak was large, 14oz, and properly cooked, medium rare. However, the meat was rather meeley and texturaly unappealing. It lacked seasoning and was generally subpar. Cooked on a griddle.
Our waiter was distracted and spread too thin to provide acceptable service.
The kitchen is obviously too small to provide expedient service to so large a dining room.
My advise is to down size the restaurant, upsize the kitchen and hire more staff.
It’s better to do less business and do it well, than to do more service and do it badly!
The place has good bones and some potential, but it’s not ready for the business it’s trying to do.
We had 10 top shelf drinks, a few of which were doubles. We had a variety of food options anywhere from the Strip steak to chicken strips all of which was very good. The bill for all of us was under $200.
If we ever get out that way again I will definitely eat there again and get the steak.
