I went with wife and friends. Had a great time, Fernando gave us excepcional service and drinks. Soft rancheras songs were playing in the background. We had delicious queso fundido twice and tlacoyos de huitlacoche, it was my first time and it did not disappoint. I had La tampiqueña, the quality of the food was superb but the quantity was a little bit lacking. The creme brulee was not too sweet, so it was perfect for me.

Had a delightful dinner at a Mexican restaurant on a Saturday. Despite a GPS diversion, we made it on time. The place was not crowded, but the hostesses were lovely. The bartender gave great suggestions and described the food as authentic Mexico City cuisine. The chips, salsa, and guacamole were amazing. The Coconut margarita was tasty. The De La Plaza Tacos with chorizo were delicious and the dark tortilla added a unique flavour (I’m visiting from Canada.) Highly recommend, but go earlier on Saturdays for more company. We were the last ones out at 9:30pm.

Sat at the bar last Saturday night, my wife and I were the only people at the bar. Atmosphere is very good and the location is just minutes from the house. Service started off good and went down after a large party arrived on the patio and our bartender Fernando waited on them. Like many restaurants in the area they seem to be short staffed. Drinks were good. 2 Cadillac margaritas @$12. Chips, salsa and very good bean dip. Food was good, higher end Mexican cuisine. Enchilada mole with chicken $20. and Tampiquena (pounded out filet), good flavor and done medium rare $28. Though they did not ask how I wanted the steak. We go here about once a quarter and will be back. Hope they bump up the service but I understand good help is hard to find these days!

This plant has a nice atmosphere but it is a little deserted on a Monday night. Kind of strange. The food is good. The service, especially for a place with only a few tables, was lacking in timing. The waitress was friendly enough though, just not on top of things. I think there were only 4 other tables occupied.
The parking is good, and the prices were fair. It should be a really great place and would likely have 4 or more stars from me except for the weak service.

I have been waiting to try this place since I saw it was going in to the old Butters location. They did an amazing job with the layout and decor.
The food was amazing, and the service was too!
The Smoked Octopus was the best I’ve ever had, nice and tender, not tough at all. Also, the seasoning was just perfect.
The Agave Ceviche was great as well. (Note to the Owner, make it spicier please )
The pricing was not any different or higher than any of the surrounding restaurants, unless you count Zipps, Chipotle, or Jimmy Johns, which I do not.
Overall quality food at a fair price, great ambience, and amazing service.
I highly recommend everyone to give this new restaurant a try, I will definitely be coming back.

We had been wanting to check out Agave Del Scottsdale from the time we read about it in the Phoenix Magazine..Did not disappoint.
As many of you have read from my reviews I love a good skinny Margarita..wow..Amazing.
We always sit in the bar area to get a feel for the atomsphere, staff and to get to know people.Fernando our bartender, explained the difference in the type of foods they prepare and the typical TexMex mexican food we normally would expect. The flavors are bright and fresh. We had Tlacoyos (blue corn masa with black bean and corn truffle) with verde salsa, queso fundido and their salsa and chips. They present the salsa with two types.
The first one mild (more like a bean dip) and the other spicy. We also ordered their coffee drink called Cafe Carajillos which had expesso with licqor 43 (very nice after dinner coffee). Desert was their version of a creme brulee..so smooth and creamy with raspberries on the bottom.
Great staff, Hector, manager, was very congential..checking on us to make sure we being accomdated and were enjoying our selections.
This place really cares about presenting the best and it shows.
We will be back often.btw..great happy hour too..even on weekends!
One downside is the parking. With all the restaurants in a small radius parking is limited in peak hours..

We had just seen a movie and wanted to go to a good restaurant before flying out of Scottsdale and back to Seattle. We picked Agave because the pictures looked good (probably not the best way to pick places).
We arrived and were greeted by Daniel, an awesome server and bartender. He walked me through the menu (I am fairly uneducated about Mexican food) and I ordered the enchilada with mole, and my husband ordered a steak.
The food was perfection, Daniel was there to ask us if we needed anything else without being there too much.
The one unexpected part was how nice he was to me and my husband. I am obviously transgender and he was a friendly to me as anyone has ever been. I felt safe here, coupled with spectacular food and a great place means when we come back in January I will be there.

Agave has a great atmosphere, with high end, Mexican food to match. Loved the complimentary chips and salsa trio. The homemade chips were unique with a spicy kick. This included mild and spicy salsas, with an amazing light bean dip. My Tacos AL Postor was good. I loved the soft blue tortillas but wasn’t fond of the smokiness in my pork. But that was my bad because this is how they’re supposed to be prepared. My friend loved his braised pork Chochinta Pibil. My only other complaint on the food is the side rice lacked flavor and was a bit mushy. I had a great margarita, but would have preferred it to be frozen, which they don’t serve. For pricing, I found it to be very reasonable for the quality of the food and we will definitely return. Ole!
