We showed up at opening and boom — seated immediately. Elli took great care of us and kept the chips and salsa flowing like he knew we came hungry (which we absolutely did).
Then came the tableside guac, fresh, and dangerously good. Requests carnitas to go win the Guac. Pro tip: add a squeeze of orange with the lime. Sounds weird. Tastes legendary. You’ll have to ask not something people normally do!
My fajitas arrived still sizzling loud enough to turn heads — exactly how fajitas should enter a room. A nice portion is sizzling chicken, onions & peppers, great flavor, believe it or not there were leftovers. My wife crushed her ground beef enchilada like it owed her money.
And the churros?
Let’s just say ordering one plate was a mistake. We should’ve planned ahead. Rookie move. Next time I’ll have to do with ice cream!
Great food, great service, relaxed vibe.
We’ll definitely be back… probably sooner than our waistlines would prefer.
Highly recommend.
The salsa and chips are great. I’ve gotten the fajitas every time I’ve gone and they are delicious! Come out sizzling hot & fresh. The sides are also really good. I’ve been here a few times and plan to be back!
I arrived just past 1:00 p.m., well after the lunch rush, and since it was a Tuesday, I expected a lighter crowd. Perfect timing to really take it all in.
Food
The menu was packed with tempting dishes—honestly, I wished I could try them all at once. I decided on the Shrimp Zarandeados, and they did not disappoint. The real surprise, though, came before the entrée: the grilled onions and the thick, spicy red salsa served with chips were an absolute home run. So good, in fact, that I almost asked if I could buy some to take home. Portions were just right—not too much, not too little.
Service
The service was fine overall, though nothing stood out in particular. One thing I did notice was that some of the male servers stood idly near their tables, sometimes chatting amongst themselves. While not necessarily “wrong,” it did look a little odd, especially for a restaurant that gives off a more upscale vibe. In the industry, it’s generally frowned upon, so a bit more attentiveness would elevate the service.
Atmosphere
The restaurant itself is beautifully designed and decorated—I especially loved the bathrooms, which were surprisingly elegant. That said, my critic’s eye couldn’t help but notice a few details. The hanging lamps above the tables were dusty and could use a good wipe to keep the place looking as polished as it deserves. Also, the booths felt a bit too upright for comfort, which made sitting for a while just slightly uncomfortable.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I was highly impressed. You’re doing a fantastic job of presenting Mexican cuisine at a higher level—not only through great flavors, but also by offering it in a clean and stylish environment.
Gracias!
I ask everyone that is reading this to please go to this restaurant & experience it for yourself. You will be so very glad that you took the time to visit this location.
I cannot remember going to a restaurant where the food & staff served the guests as if we are kings & queens.
All I can say is a big “Thank you” to the staff of Agave Azul for the best Valentines Day meal that my wife & I have ever experienced.
