We had the brown sugar chai latte and the Dutch baby and the cauliflower burrito.
All were wonderful. This restaurant and their staff are top notch. I wish we had this in our town
P.S My ratings are based on whether I believe I could make a better or healthier version at home. If food/drinks/service impress me, I’ll be happy to come back. If not the stars reflect that.
My partner and I came at 1:30 and was told it was a 25 minute wait even though the place wasn’t packed. We decided to order 1 cappuccino outside and it was a 10 minute wait although no one else was ordering. 2:00 passed and we did not receive a text that our table was ready. We went inside to ask and turns out they forgot to text us. We were seated and it took so long for the food to arrive. 2:36 and we were STILL waiting. The Dutch baby was OVERLY DRENCHED in maple syrup. Our waiter never checked on us. We told the waiter that we didn’t like this and she was seemingly giving us attitude, taking our plates away and having all our forks and knives falling all over. The rest of the food was ok, would never come back with this type of experience. Seems like a lot of other reviews mentioned the long time wait/poor quality service.
Afternoon is a delightful little spot that offers a unique blend of casual dining and gourmet flavors. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a modern yet cozy ambiance. The menu is a delightful surprise, featuring creative twists on classic comfort foods.
I was particularly impressed by the pancake. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the presentation was stunning.
If you’re looking for a place to enjoy a delicious meal in a relaxed setting, Afternoon is definitely worth a visit.
For starters, we sat outdoors and it was a bit chilly with the wind so we tried to move one of the heaters not in use closer and was told we can’t due to it being a safety hazard (it’s not but okay). The tone started right there. Obviously we are aware we chose to sit outside but heaters were there for a reason.
After that, we felt a bit ignored. We were there longer than other patrons that arrived after us. We noticed everyone was being helped and served but we couldn’t get the time of day.
When our waitress finally got to us, we placed our order and waited 30 minutes for our main dishes to get to our table (it’s breakfast food cmon). It was decent, nothing to write home about but not bad. The bus boy actually refilled our coffee while our server was no where to be found.
The value wasn’t there for the food. It was eggs, bacon, and potatoes for $15. Our bill was over $60 for 2 people for drip coffee, starter, 2 entrees, and a tip because we’re still human beings.
Overall, we’re disappointed in the place. We saw the positive reviews and thought it would be great. Waste of time, waste of money, won’t go back.
I had the dutch baby in October and it was amazing. Huge. Took up the entire plate. The Dutch baby we received in December was half the size, very thick, and flavorless. There’s nothing worse than bragging about how good something is and bringing new people into the space only to make excuses for the quality of the food once there.
Another thing, the waiters brag about the crispy potatoes as if they are life changing when in fact they are just crispy relatively flavorless chunks of potato.
The service is very hit or miss. We walked in and waited almost 15 minutes to be acknowledged by anyone in the space. It was somewhat busy but not busy enough to justify that.
The only consistent item is the French omelette, which is good but not worth the rest of the experience.
I’ve been to Afternoon many times, but after nothing but disappointment every time, I will not be coming back for a long while. My biggest problem with Afternoon has always been the service. Whether it’s at the pastry window, the counter or the table, I have consistently had a subpar, if not downright bad, experience. I’ve been left standing around waiting to check out or to get seated, as I was ignored by the staff, even when the restaurant was visibly not busy. I don’t expect my waiters to be slap-happy about waiting my table, but when I walk away every time feeling like I was inconveniencing and annoying the staff despite pouring my own water and ordering once, something is wrong.
Afternoon, you guys have a great business here, but the service has not gotten better in the 3 years I’ve been coming here. I reluctantly went back a few times because friends wanted to check the place out, and every time I hoped I was proven wrong, I was not. Please, either hire people who are actually good at customer service, or teach it to your staff.
