Welcome to Afghan Famous Kabob restaurant in Gainesville, Virginia. Opened in 2006, this little jewel offers a selection of famous traditional Afghan dishes in the area. The stars of the menu are the kabobs – there are 10 choices – each cooked to order over charcoal. Choices include boneless chicken thighs, boneless chicken breast, bone-in chicken, seasoned ground beef, chunks of lamb and lamb ribs If you are thinking about having a private party, we can definitely cater to your specific needs by offering full service catering.

Friendly atmosphere, clean and fast service. Food tasted good. I particularly like the chickpeas. Overall, it’s a great place for a quick bite, especially if you’re craving for kabob. However, I do feel that the portion size could be more generous.

Afghan famous kabob is the best Afghan food my boyfriend and I have found in NOVA, we can’t stop coming back. The food here is insanely delicious and everything is always cooked to perfection. We both live in Reston and have tried so many kabob places around us but nothing lives up to this quality and flavor.
My boyfriend always gets the super combo or deluxe combo and enjoys the meat quality and tenderness. We both love the chickpeas and bread. I’m vegetarian so I love the vegetarian combo which comes with pumpkin, chickpeas, spinach and eggplant with yogurt. It’s incredibly flavorful.
If you come here, don’t miss the special green sauce (their chutney). We always get a big container to bring home. We can’t find a green sauce from another restaurant that comes close to comparing. You need to come here !!!!!

I LOVE this restaurant. You can see them making their food right at the till, with a little grill, and yet, despite not being frozen or prepackaged, I cannot consistently rely on the food being fantastic each and every single time. If you come in dinner and order the chicken platter(my go to dish, and one of my all time favorites) you get 8 pieces of chicken which is a lot of food. I like to order some naan on the side as well, and I find that makes the dish amazing. This place also provides a large helping of rice with the platter, and I usually find that restaurants that provide rice on the side are doing it as some sort of filler so the platter seems more filling. Not this restaurant. The rice is surprising flavorful for its normal color, but I definitely recommend this place. The mint chutney and white sauce are absolutely fantastic as well, and while you don’t get a ton of them initially you can always ask for more containers of the sauce. This place is great if you eat chicken or other meats but do not come if you cannot eat meat because you will have at most 2-3 dishes, most of which are considered sides to an actual dish.

Stopped in for lunch and I was not disappointed!! They have their lunch specials painted on the window so I went for a lamb kebab sandwich and the fried eggplant appetizer.
The fried eggplant appetizer was absolutely delicious, and it was served with warm, fresh bread. I could have eaten the entire thing as a meal!
The sandwich was perfect. The lamb was cooked perfectly and was tender and flavorful. The bread for the sandwich was a flatbread which gave the perfect filling-to-bread ratio.

Had a craving for chicken Kabos and found this place . You know is good when you open the door and all those flavors and spices hit you. I order the delux Kabob and humus as a side and they did not disappoint. I enjoy every single bite. This is a local run place and I liked that. They put their best foot forward in verything they serve . I will definitely come back .

Fantastic service and even better food! I came hungry after a long gym session and left 100% satisfied! Got the Super Combo, the kabobs were marinated well, rice was warm and fluffy and the fresh bread was crispy and soft inside. I wish could eat faster to enjoy everything while it was still hot! Sauces were great too
