I brought my family here on a cold Friday morning and left feeling warm and cozy. We ordered the egg and Tibs and it was delicious! We also got a latte and a cappuccino that reminded us of the coffee back home. They roast their own coffee so you can really taste the freshness. Of course, we bought their packaged roasted coffee and I have been telling everyone I know to get it!! It smells so good and is amazing to use for your own fresh coffee at home. The vibes were so comfy and the way the sun was reflecting in the cafe was perfection. Can’t wait to visit again.

What a friendly and safe place! Needing a place for breakfast and get some worm done, I walked just over the D.C.-Maryland border to this Ethiopian cafe and roastery. A couple took my order with a smile. They were very kind.
My vanilla latte was great! They roast the beans in house. (You can see the roaster behind the bar.) To eat, I ordered the Ethiopian combo. It comes with scrambled eggs, chechebsa (chopped up bread), and a grain. It was tasty, especially with hot sauce that adds a kick.
There’s plenty of seating with outlets and strong wi-fi. Street parking is close.

This is easily the best Ethiopian food in the DMV! The atmosphere feels like home and the people treat you like you are their own family. Was originally my spot for brunch but after trying their Veggie 5 and Awze Tibs, I can confidently say this is a top 5 restaurant here in the DMV. The empty plate says it all.

If you’re looking for authentic Ethiopian coffee, Adulis Coffee & Roastery is the place to be! The quality, flavor, and aroma are unmatched—no more Starbucks for me when I can get the real deal here. The coffee is rich, bold, and brewed to perfection, just like you’d find in Ethiopia. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable about their craft.
I highly recommend this coffee shop to anyone who loves high-quality coffee at a great price. Support this gem and don’t forget to leave them a great review!

Where do I start…this restaurant fired on all cylinders and I walked out with full satisfaction. I shared the awaze tibs and five veggies with two friends. The flavor was off the charts and the presentation of the food was so clean and organized. The spice level was just right. The prices are very fair for the portion of food. The customer service is top-notch and the lady at the counter and in the kitchen will treat you like family. If you’re in the DMV area, you need to come here and bring friends. Will definitely be coming back.

Adulis Café: A Must-Try Ethiopian Gem in Uptown DC & Silver Spring!
I just discovered Adulis Café, and it’s an absolute game-changer for Ethiopian cuisine in the area! Visited today with my best friend, and we were blown away by the abundance of flavors in their vegan platters. Once you start eating, it’s impossible to stop—every bite keeps you coming back for more. We ended up lingering for over an hour, savoring every moment!
Highlights:
✨ Perfectly cooked dishes: The lentils, chickpea stew (shiro), collard greens, yellow peas, and cabbage/carrots were flawless—shoutout to the incredibly talented chef!
✨ A vegan/vegetarian dream: As someone who cooks veggie platters often, Adulis is now my top choice for dining out.
✨ Organic coffee & tea: Don’t miss their roasted coffee and variety of teas (my pick: Earl Grey—so aromatic!).
If you’re in Uptown DC or Silver Spring, run to Adulis Café! The food is unforgettable, the vibe is welcoming, and the flavors will have you hooked. Can’t wait to go back!

I got the stink eye as soon as I walked in from the guy behind the counter, and they’re selectively slow with their service. It was empty when we walked in. We ordered a drink and a bagel sandwich each, simple and quick, right? Two other tables of black customers who came in after I ordered got their food before my order was even started, (as evidenced by them coming out and asking to confirm what I wanted on it over 30 minutes since we ordered). Finally I just asked for our food to go.
On top of all that, they messed up our food. Gave us the wrong bagels and slathered it all with about a quarter cup of mayonnaise.
I wouldn’t recommend it. Wish I could take my tip back.

Fantastic service and some of the best coffee in the area. I would definitely recommend the house blend. Music is a mix of jazz and traditional Ethiopian music. And the barista is a great conversationalist. I wish I had more stars to give
