Adel’s Famous Halal Food – Halal Restaurant in New York

Our line wait time was 1.5 hours at 8:30pm, but we would do it again in a NY minute! What’s better than a $10 plate meal of this quality. – Eric A.

The platters are amazing and prices are very fair. The hot sauce is actually spicy so would use with caution. The white sauce tastes good as well. No idea what the green sauce is supposed to be. Only thing that sucks is the wait time. Went around 10:30pm on a Saturday and had to wait 2.5 hours on the line. Not their fault, but would not recommend waiting that long. Line is usually a lot shorter if you can come 3am ish. People do try to cut you in line so I hope the employees can put something in place to discourage/stop it.

Food tasted pretty good (combo over spicy rice) and for the price, you sure do get a lot of food however, I personally will not be ordering from here so long the line is as long as it is. I was lucky enough to leave work early and at 540 the line formed (Tuesday night). I was able to get fourth in line. Within seconds, the line had around 40+ people in it. The guys there seem pretty cool and once you order you do get your food quickly. Hoping the hype dies down at some point or if these guys open for lunch that would even better.

Combo over spicy rice was okay. Definitely not worth the wait though. Expect 1.5 hrs wait on weekends.

When you see a constant line that is a block long you know the food must be good, right? Well Adel’s Famous Halal is truly a meal you need to have when in Manhattan. Our line wait time was 1.5 hours at 8:30pm, but we would do it again in a NY minute! What’s better than a $10 plate meal of this quality.

1h16m queue! As its an hour queue so I think it’s not worth just order one so I ordered two! 1 without sauce for later.

The cart opens at 6 pm. There were people standing in a queue from 5 pm onwards. The wait time is too long but is worth all the wait. It’s the best chicken over rice i had in new york. The fries were also fresh and crispy. Meat was tender and juicy.

Was it good? Yes. Worth waiting an hour ? No. I think the hype is because of TikTok. Halal Guys in Toronto IMO is just as good (not sure if the quality is different in NYC). We got a mixed (Lamb and Chicken) on spicy rice plate with white and spicy sauce. Green sauce on the side.

Do not miss out on Adel’s when you’re in Manhattan. Expect to wait in the long line… 45 minutes plus! But once you place your order food comes quick. The guy taking the orders is super friendly and nice. The menu may look overwhelmingly but they can customize any meal for you. I heard regulars asking for Half and half rice or put the white sauce down first and then the rice. If you want spice go with the spicy rice and red sauce! I opted out of it haha I’m good with the yellow rice, falafel, veggies and white sauce! Significant other got the lamb over rice. Not many tables / seats to sit around there. But people always find ways to eat around there. I just take it back to the hotel!

It is Famous actually. I waited in queue for more than 1 and half hours to get my food for the first time. As you can see a long line. People wait patiently to get food from him.

Ordered the spicy combo platter after waiting in line for about an hour and a half on a Sunday evening, so my expectations were pretty high. The chickens and lamb both were seasoned well and had a lot of flavor and were tender. No dry meat here! The rice pairs with the meat along with the sauces extremely nicely. It is one of the best halal carts in NYC. Only complaint would be the wait time, but otherwise, great food!
