An incredible culinary experience for my last night in Lisbon.
This place is simply exceptional, not only for the authentic food where, through each bite one can feel the chef’s love for perfection, but also for the warmth and kindness of the owner, explaining each dish with passion and detail.
Many thanks to Tony, his wife and team for this delicious evening.
We’ll be back for more next time!!

The experience was more than impeccable, our server Antonio was extremely attentive and kind. The food was some of the best fish I’ve ever tasted. I felt like we were welcomed into a home and treated with the amount of love a family member would give, highly recommend.

Even though we didn’t have reservations, the kind owner was able to accommodate our family of four. Cash only, totally worth it! We were given a tuna pate, cheese, carrots and bread to start (which is charged, as it is traditionally). We had the grilled tiger shrimp which was excellent, the sea bream, and steak. The sides that came with it were delicious: french fries, broccoli and potatoes, salad, miga and a cabbage dish. Service was so friendly, kind and polite, and he was especially sweet to my younger daughter. We were sad that we discovered this place on our last night, as we would have come back to try the other dishes. We were completely full at the end but took some cheesecake to go, and it was absolutely amazing! Try to call for reservations for this authentic experience!

This restaurant was just around the corner from my Airbnb, so I popped in on our second night. Cozy old-school Portuguese tavern vibe, friendly welcome, and the grilled octopus tentacle looked amazing when it arrived – beautifully charred, melt-in-the-mouth tender, huge portion. Halfway through I realised I was defeated by octopus (it’s massive!). The sneaky part: they brought bread, olives and cheese but surprise – everything was charged. It’s a classic Portuguese move, but a clear heads-up would have been nice.

A clear heads-up would have been nice.

FYI- Cash only.
Had an amazing meal here. Great traditional Portuguese food with a warm atmosphere. Started with grilled prawns and had grilled whole fish as the main course. Other people in the party had grilled salmon and sausage. The food there was the perfect example of not needing to do much if the ingredients were good to start with. The owner was attentive, friendly, and easy to chat with. High recommend this place.

Great grilled traditional Portuguese food with a focus on grilled seafood. The grilled prawns are a great starter and any grilled whole fish is a perfect main. The grilled sea bass comes with broccoli, potatoes, and migas. The couple that run the place are hard at work but make you feel like you’re part of the family. Keep in mind, cash only.

Cozy and fun spot for dinner. We came a few minutes after they opened at around 7:40pm and our party of 3 was able to be seated immediately. They gave us a bread basket, tuna, olives, carrots, and cheese as appetizers (note though these items are charged even though we didn’t order them). These were delicious though and a great start to the meal. We ordered 3 entrees: grilled octopus, prawns, and sea bass. All were good but the prawns were really tasty and definitely the best out of all the entrees. Each entree comes with its own sides too which were delicious. We left very full and the staff was super friendly and hospitable!

In short, the food was excellent, but the service was not good. The gentleman that I assume was the owner was very friendly, spoke English, and had me sit outside since the tables inside had prior reservations. I ordered the lamb chops and a glass of white wine. The gentleman came out with several appetizer trays with cheese, olives, pickled carrots, other things which he said were all excellent traditional Portuguese dishes. And they all tasted great. What he didn’t tell me is that many of those were not included in what I ordered, that they would charge me extra for those. After my meal I ordered a coffee and he came out with a coffee and a small glass of porto which I didn’t order. When the bill came I was surprised by the charges for things I did not order. He did not ask me for permission to add charges to my bill, he just brought out the items without asking me and I assumed they were part of the meal. I ordered only the lamb chops, the glass of wine, and the coffee. The bill included 4 other items that I never ordered but had to pay for. A customer should never be surprised like this and forced to pay items they don’t order. In the picture I uploaded I’ve circled the items at the top that I did not order but which cost me an additional 11.20 euro. The food tasted great, but I will not return.

Wow!! We visited Adega Dom Luis on a Friday night, with no reservation. Despite this, the owner welcomed us with a fantastic smile and made literally our night!

At arrival, we were kindly offered a glass of white wine! This was really nice of them and we greatly appreciated!

We proceeded with ordering food – we had the grilled prawns, which were fantastic! So big and tasty, a dream! We also had the mussels, which were served in a buttery tomato sauce with chunky pieces of onion. Dipping the bread inside all the sauce was sooooo amazing . We finally ordered the octopus dish which arrived in a lovely extra virgin olive oil sauce and tasty potatoes. Food was incredible & portions huge – we didn’t manage to finish everything but definitely left with our belly full & a wonderful smile on our face!

A special thanks to the owner, who treated us with such kindness, made us feel special and took the time to talk to us and explain all the recipes with such passion!

Please, visit this restaurant if you are in Lisbon. It will be a fantastic experience!
