Found this place by accident just walking around downtown Mitchell. Wonderful atmosphere. Our waitress was exceeding helpful. she gave us some recommendations which for the most part were pretty darn good. The appetizer wasn’t my favorite, but was great to try new things.

Surprise! This restaurant upon online review seemed to serve the basic Italian menu, dressed up a little. But we were hunting in the area, and it was my birthday, so we went. Surprise! The menu was more extensive than listed online, and featured unexpected combinations and new flavors. Presented nicely and uniquely. Found out the restaurant is relatively new, so I’m guessing the chef is still experimenting. I had the squash appetizer and walleye (my favorite) entree. Tiramasu was uniquely presented. Pictures do not represent the entire serving, as I started to eat them before I remembered to take a pic.

Newest classy restaurant to establish itself in Mitchell. Its definitely a couple of steps up in food quality and overall presentation. Greeted promptly at our reservation time, and seated at a cozy table. Would have liked the linens that were on other tables as that’s something that stands out in comparison to other restaurants.
We ordered the shrimp scampi, ossobucco, and carbonara. Shrim were jumbo sized and appeared to be cooked properly. Pasta was served at al denté or just very slightly above firmness. The ossobucco and risotto was very flavorful and robust. Have only had ossobucco as a pork shark before and this was much more flavorful. The carbonara was my favorite of the dishes, but could have been plated better imo. I did eat all the carbonara and half leftovers of the ossobucco. The dinner salad was nicely flavored and I especially liked the sun dried tomatoes and pickled onions. Cracked pepper would have been nice, and not the cheap dried pepper in small diner that was on the table. None of the main dishes required additional seasoning.
The biggest flaw of the dishes was the bread offered. It was very dry and dense and didn’t imo, complement the dishes favorably.
Another thing that was an issue for me was the wine… if you’re going to drink, get at least a bottle. One glass for $13 and a strict 3 finger pour seemed stingy. It certainly wasn’t a Midwest pour – more like volume control by eye dropper and digital scale. The Italian coke substitute was good flavor and I’d get that again.
For desert we had the tiramasu and canoli, with the tiramasu the better of them. The canoli had a very light flavor and not as sugared as you may have at lower tier part-time Italian restaurant. I think the presentation of the tiramasu was a little to pretentious though.
Pricing… sioux falls pricing comparable. Its not a cheap place to eat, and I certainly hope we aren’t getting Sysco food cooked Italian style.
I would go back to try other things, but it wouldn’t be a weekly visit, perhaps a couple of months or so in between.

We ordered quite a few dishes and all of them were amazing! Our favorite was the Alfredo Pasta but a close second was the Gnocchi. The carbona was so good as well. Everything was seasoned so well, including their salads. We loved the Tiramisu dessert. Our server was friendly and helpful. I’m so glad for this addition to Mitchell.

Unfortunately all the food lacked flavor and seasoning including the salad and tiramisu. We had to ask for water refills as we weren’t given a picture/carafe of water like the other tables. The menu stated the cannoli was filled with apple, but it had tart lemon. The glass we were served a drink in had a crack down the side that obviously went unnoticed when pouring the drink. Came in excited and left disappointed.

Arrived too early (my fault) and got a reservation. Was seated promptly at 5 and wait staff was very attentive. Drinks came first and were served very fast. Water was given without asking. They gave us time to look the menu over while having drinks. Wait staff gave input on a few of our questions and was very helpful choosing. We had meatballs with polenta, and lasagna. Both dishes we’re perfection. I spent time in Italy back in the 80s so I know Italian food from a family made perspective. (Palermo) Salad was a delightful mix with pickled onions and sundried tomatoes with a red wine vinegar. Just spot on!
Wine selection was very good with some family owned vintage available. Good legs and very complex yet smooth.
We ordered the meatballs and polenta and my dish of lasagna. Best test of a traditional Italian restaurant is how well their dishes are made. Flavors were as required. Meaning it is exactly as it supposed to be if you were dining in a family home in Italy. Simple menu following the requirements of a good restaurant with focused dishes. Some may find it a bit noisy or crowded but hey, you’re with family! We talk, chatter and enjoy the mood. Atmosphere is good with bright view yet cozy. So, the food. My lasagna was correctly made, layers and wonderful cheese. Hot! Be careful! The meatballs and Polenta was gorgeous. Portions were normal for a evening meal. If you’re starving, go to a buffet where flavor isn’t important. Over all this is a cute and quaint place full of super attentive staff, nice decor, and very kind owners greeting you. Scale 1 to 10, let’s say 8.5 due to prices. We don’t have a lot of options in this town, so support those that come here to provide a break from bar food. In short, happy, lively place that really has a nice feel. Super sweet people and awesome food. I will return! Grazie! ci siamo divertiti molto!

We’ve eaten here twice now and were impressed both times. First- we ordered an appetizer that was three crumb coated balls of cheese. They were good, but a bit spicy for my liking. Main dishes of green ravioli and shrimp pasta were wonderful!!! Second time we had lasagna and again shrimp pasta. The lasagna was phenomenal and so worth a bit longer of a wait!!! It will likely be my go to going forward- The tiramisu for desert was also great. Our server wasn’t spectacular but no complaints-
I wish there was a bit more food for what you pay, but cost is similar for a date night in Sioux Falls so we love to be able to support local!

A fantastic dining experience. Casual atmosphere and attentive wait staff. We ordered the gnocchi and the shrimp scampi. The gnocchi was homemade in a spicy sauce reminiscent of Prato cafes. The shrimp were large and perfectly cooked. The quality shone through in the small details. San Marzano tomatoes, fresh pecorino, and toasted focaccia. We will definitely be returning.

Cliff notes: I couldn’t finish a single course. The lasagna was absolutely atrocious. The only way I can describe it was a layer of Parmesan, a noodle, a layer of ricotta swimming in oil, a couple tomato’s, and the remainder water. The soup was a bowl of nothing but sausage with a quarter inch of butter. Just what I always wanted. The beer selection sucks. The only somewhat redeeming course was the risotto balls which is risotto deep fried in bread crumbs. For the most part they had no flavor which for this place is probably a good thing.
The first glass I got for my beer was dirty. The 2nd beer was a draft and it had black floaters in. Disgusting. All of this mess after they took my lasagna off was still $78. Expensive and it was terrible. That’s about as good as a trip to the hospital. I won’t be back.
