Very nice motif and decor. The food was good as well as the service. From out of town and this was a solid choice, would fit in anywhere in any city. I had the green chili chimi chonga and my wife had the fajita trio…her fajita was excellent! We both had a glass of wine.

Seriously some of the best Mexican I have had in a long time. I came in from Nashville to hike the Palo Duro and I was so tired and hungry when I got in. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming and familiar. The food was hot, fresh and delicious and the service was impeccable! I’ll be back on my next trip to Amarillo for sure ❤️

Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant Is One Of Our All-Time Favorites. No Matter Which Abuelo’s You Visit In The US. Their Food Menu Is Always Very Consistent. We Recently Had The Chance to Dine At Their Amarillo, Texas Location. We Were Seated At The Bar And Were Served By Dylan And David. They Were Great Bartenders! Friendly And Very Attentive. We Found Out That This Specific Location Is The Original Abuelo’s That First Opened Back In 1989. Highly Recommended! The Food Is Delicious, Nice Atmosphere, And Great Customer Service. We Will Be Back.

Probably overrated this place. Pazole was good. Chips were good . Salsas need a little boost. Nothing had a punch except, maybe, the smokey one. Don’t waste your money on the triple dips. Average guacamole, average queso, below average “diablo” (no heat). Did have an Excellent margarita , El Jefe , I believe !

Love Abuelos Mexican restaurant. Three enchiladas are my favorite with the sour cream sauce. The salsa is excellent, tea was sweet and service was good. I wish we had one in Alabama I love the one in Wichita Kansas

I have always eaten at this location. Has always been good till today. I ordered a holiday special. Sirloin steak and shrimp. Shrimp was cooked to perfection. Service was great however the steak i ordered medium rare. It came out well done and tough as boot leather. I guess Amarillo is not a good place for a steak. I ate at big texan last yr for my birthday. I ordered a steak and reordered because the first came out well done. So did the second. I used to be a chef. I would be ashamed to serve a customer something like that. Abuelos your service was and always has been great and so has your food until you try steaks

Host was a little rude. She didn’t say Hi when we walked in, we had to tell her how many people and she still didn’t respond. Took us to our table and didn’t say anything still. Waiter was nice, food was great. They need someone else as a host.
