A Cajun food heaven for Houma. The food is ranked #1 for what it serves, in many categories. Home style cooking, fried seafood, sandwiches, poboy, hamburger steak, potato salad, gumbo, stew, desert, all made in the kitchen from scratch. Sure it is not a 5 star type restaurant, but for it’s type/style, it is 5 star. Soda and beer on real ice! Got to come here and just enjoy, especially when they have a band playing, 5 to 9 on some weekends. A must visit if you have friends visiting Houma.

We went for lunch today and after being directed to a table, we waited for about 10 minutes for a waiter. The waiter actually waited on 3 tables that came in after us. When we pointed that out we were told, “ well I’m here now”. He took our order and never came back to check on us. Other tables were offered dessert, but not us. I don’t know what we did to deserve this treatment, but I won’t be back anytime soon.

My food was great. The waiter at my table was the worst!! We drank all of our drinks and he just stared at us and didn’t give us our drinks. He never asked how we were doing, or introduce himself. The time that he was the nicest was the time of the tip. The cooks that brought out my food were nice. Other than our waiter this place was great.

I honestly have no clue how I found out about this place. Wherever I saw it, I knew I had to come. I even made a stop at a different museum before coming here and they told me to come here to eat, but to check Facebook to see if they were open as there was recently a death in the family. I got the special of the day. Red beans and rice with potato salad. For dessert I got the peanut butter pie with chocolate. The whole meal was amazing and it felt like the whole place was family. I would recommend to anyone visiting the area. Those who live here already know.

The waitress was nice but she lied to us saying everything on the menu was homemade. Maybe she just did not know. Anyway, we were so disappointed in our food as half of it came from a bag. When checking out, the cashier wanted us to pay more because she said the prices on the menu are wrong. So unprofessional. Definitely not a good experience. We won’t be back.
