November 20, 2024 – Looking for a tasty Gelato fix . . . after lunch or dinner ? Here’s a relatively new Gelato place , called Abbraccio ( Italian for “ HUG”) located on the left front side of Tapia’s Restaurant, in Middletown.
Both eating establishments are owned by Ann Miller , and both are very good too ! ( I’ve reviewed both) Last night we met up with our daughters & their children for dinner. All 3 generations enjoyed our meals, then we walked out one door, into the Gelato shop! Convenient!
Loads of gelato flavors to select:
Peach, Anarena Cherry,
Apple Pie A La Mode
Mango, White Chocolate Cranberry,
Vanilla Bean, Key Lime Pie, Limoncello,
Chocolate, Watermelon Kiwi, etc.

What’s the difference between Gelato and Ice Cream ?
Ice cream made with Eggs, heavy cream
Gelato no eggs, made with milk
Ice cream has 15 – 25 % fat
Gelato has 4 – 9 % fat

My fiancé and I make the 20 min drive from Buckeystown to enjoy the gelato here and it’s always well worth it! The flavoring is natural and delicious and the service is fantastic. I requested the final smidgens of pistachio and the woman taking my order cleaned the whole tin out. It made my day. Lovely ambience as well. A cozy place to warm up, even on a chilly day.

We go out for ice cream to all of the local shops, discovered this one later on the list and we have them back 10 plus times, it really was that good. Rotating list of weekly flavors flavors, incredible staff. This is one of the hidden gems of Frederick county. All of the flavors are good but special shout out for the creme brulee
