AB Shabu Shabu

  4.5 – 116 reviews  $$ • Sukiyaki and Shabu Shabu restaurant

Our business specialized in Japanese Shabu Shabu. Shabu Shabu literally means the swishing action of cooking thin slice meat by dragging it in the boiling broth. What make AB Shabu Shabu’s repeat customers visiting in such frequent bases is the freshness of the food and the delicious dipping sauces. Majority of our patron enjoy the Angus beef ribeye with our three special sauces. Ponzu the first sauce is a citrus soy sauce. Goma the second sauce is a sesame blended sauce. Satay the third sauce is an all spice sauce. All very delicious and enjoy by our patron. We have take-out and parking lot dine in available during the Covid-19 pandemic.

AB Shabu Shabu is one of my favourite shabu places in this area. I’ve been coming since childhood, for longer than I remember (maybe 15 years?), and it’s remained such a lovely restaurant that my family and I keep coming back time after time.

The meat is always so tender and delicious. I usually get either the angus beef short rib or the beef ribeye, and both options are always so fresh and flavourful. The medium size is my preferred portion size — filling but without feeling too stuffed.

The meat goes so well with the rich and savoury beef bone broth, which is my go-to. I also really like the sukiyaki broth, which is a perfect balance of sweet and salty and goes so well with the beef.

The veggie plate that comes with the hot pot is a lovely finishing touch — all the vegetables are so fresh and yummy when cooked in the delicious broth. The portions are very generous and complement the meat very nicely for a very well-rounded meal overall.

The price point is also very reasonable, especially in the past few years as dining out has gone out so much :’) Portion size is very fair and very filling. The owner is also such a nice guy — it’s been the same person running the show as far as I can remember, and he’s always so eager and kind to everyone.

Cannot wait to come back again soon!

Think that the last time I came here was in 2013. What can I say, time flies fast.
Ordered a medium lamb combo, and a medium ribeye combo. For the side, we also ordered chicken karaage.
Quality of both lamb and ribeye is good. The portion of the combo doesn’t get me full, but is enough.
Service is prompt and friendly. Will definitely come back soon.

I was around the area and decided to try a shabu shabu place for the first time. The spot was nice and clean, the food was really good and the staff was super helpful and attentive.

First time we went here and we had a little friend in my kids food. They gave us extra rice and a plate of meat. The little animal was inside the soy sauce. The food was good and what not but after that we were just kinda like okay well first and last time coming here. The waiter was very nice and helpful as soon as we told him about the little animal in the soy sauce.

First time trying and I was satisfied with its food (fresh meat and good quantity of vegetables), the service was adequate (though with only one server during lunch time can be a bit busy for the server) and the place was clean. There were a few options for your dipping pleasure: ponzu, Japanese sesame and satay with plenty of finely chopped cilantro and scallions. I had the house soup base which was made with beef and vegetable. You also have the option of beef fried rice (tasted very good) or plain white rice.

I found it very expensive for what’s served, the set menu is $15.50 and while the veggie serving is ok, the meat is very little. Check photos. Ordered 2 set pots, 1 extra meat (small) and 1 rice bowl and came for $60.

Taste was ok, but also nothing to really highlight in my opinion.

A family relative brought me there after another shabu was too crowded. This shabu was just ok to not bad but definitely not worth 4.5 on google maps. It’s a typical Chinese-style Japanese Shabu, I’d rather call it a single hot pot. The style was Chinese, the waiters/waitresses were Chinese, the foods were Chinese and even the taste was Chinese.
I don’t know why I took 20 hours flying all the way from Shanghai to Los Angeles and ate such a personal hot pot blow average (compare to Shanghai).
Repeat: A single personal hot pot is NOT equal to Shabu Shabu.

I ordered a chicken with a miso soup base. I enjoyed it very much. I also added on more Tofu and Kimchi. They have a sauce bar where you can choose a dipping sauce with small add-ons such as green onions and such. I would come here again to try the other soup bases offered. Although slow traffic at the time of eating, the service was good, however the servers were busy being on their phones or sitting around. Atmosphere was nice.

The meat quality is great and worth the money you paid. Would like to try it again later to make sure this will be on our hot pot list.

I highly recommend this restaurant, and it is an excellent place to have hot soup on a cold or rainy day. The selection is good, and there are standard and premium options. Portion sizes ranging from 3 to 14 oz means you can select the best fit for your appetite.
The staff here were friendly and kind, continuously checking up on us and asking if we needed anything. They even suggested what sauces and combinations work best with our meat selections. The miso soup was pleasant without being overly powerful in flavor. It complimented the chicken and tofu perfectly.
The atmosphere here is excellent, with no loud music and nice relaxing vibes where we can eat peacefully. The place is clean, and there are no bad smells. There is plenty of ventilation so you don’t smell the other tables’ foods or what they are eating.
The sauce station is always topped up and clean—no mess and clearly labeled.
I highly recommend this location and will be back again.
