We visited Amara recently after hearing great things about it. From a design perspective, the restaurant is stunning, beautifully curated with warm accents and very comfortable seating that sets a high bar for the evening.

The Food:
The menu features several fusion concepts, which are intriguing, though the execution on my visit was a bit hit-or-miss:

• Wagyu Seekh Kebab (2/5): I was excited to see a Wagyu version of this classic. While the presentation was lovely—accompanied by a well-made onion slaw, mango chutney, and fresh mint sauce—the kebabs themselves were slightly dry. I found they lacked the deep, succulent flavour profile I expected from Wagyu.

• Butter Chicken Rosé Pasta (3/5): A unique find for a fine-dining setting. While it was plated nicely, the flavours were a bit muted and the dish arrived lukewarm. There were only about five small pieces of chicken included; a bit more protein and a bolder “push” in the seasoning would really elevate this dish.

The Service & Ambiance:
The highlight of the night was undoubtedly the hospitality. Our server, Victoria, was fantastic attentive, helpful, and quick to accommodate us when we asked for extra heat (she brought both fresh and powdered chilies). The ambiance is top-tier, and even the bathrooms were impressively well-maintained.

Final Verdict:
Amara has the “vibe” and the service down perfectly. If the kitchen can bring the flavours up to the same level as the decor and the staff, this place would be a knockout. As it stands, it’s a great spot for a drink and the atmosphere, but the food needs a little more “umph.”

Had a wonderful experience here! Derika and Shabila were incredibly warm and welcoming, and we really enjoyed our conversations with them. Anisha at the bar also made sure everything was spot on. The food was excellent—flavorful, well-prepared, and beautifully presented. The ambience was cozy and inviting, and to top it off, they surprised us with a complimentary dessert for a birthday at the table, which was such a thoughtful touch. Definitely a place I’d love to come back to!

We visited Aamara Restaurant to celebrate my wife’s birthday, and it turned out to be a wonderful experience. Our server, Anisha, was very kind and attentive, making us feel truly welcome. We were lucky that the restaurant was quiet, so all the attention was on us.

The prices are very affordable, and the food was tasty — definitely a place for those who enjoy Indian cuisine. What stood out to us as well was the interior: everything is thoughtfully designed down to the smallest detail, creating a cozy and stylish atmosphere.

Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for good food, warm service, and a pleasant dining experience.

This was one of the best meals I’ve had from an Indian restaurant in a long time! The food was authentic, full of flavor, and so well balanced. On top of that, the drinks were absolutely next level. If you’re looking for authentic Indian cuisine that’s not only delicious but also feels good for your stomach, while enjoying a great atmosphere, this is definitely the place to go. Highly recommended!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Aamra restaurant, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with tasteful décor and comfortable seating that made it perfect for both casual outings and special occasions.
The food was the true highlight. Each dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. The ingredients tasted fresh, and it was clear that great care had gone into both preparation and presentation. The menu offered a good variety of options, catering to different tastes and dietary preferences.

Came here excited to try a nicely presented Indian restaurant. Completely terrible experience.

Servers seemed like they barely knew the menu and couldn’t pronounce a dish properly.

Edited to reply to the restaurants reply:

If you have guidelines and rules in place to protect and inform guests on dietary restrictions then this would have prevented but it was clearly not followed and my wife was sick for 3 days. This is the first Indian restaurant that has served us gluten in curries marked gluten free and which shouldn’t have gluten in the first place. I eat Indian food weekly and know what to expect.

Aside from the gluten experience the service was poor and servers unequipped to properly explain a menu or provide a good experience.

The worst part. My wife is celiac and cannot have gluten. I brought this up and they couldn’t understand what the issue was to have a gluten free meal. I had to explain my wife cannot eat anything with gluten. This then led to discovering items that have gluten free marked on the menu being in a shared fryer and thus not being gluten free. We avoided ordering this.

My wife had the gluten free curries which we were told were gluten free again.

She has now thrown up 4 times tonight because of clear contamination.

The lack of care taken to keep the meal gluten free and the lack of knowledge to serve food properly makes this place incredibly discredible.

To finish off the food was nothing beyond average and overpriced. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this restaurant closed down within a year. Absolutely embarrassing how it’s operated.

Restaurant decor is lovely – great ambience. Food was excellent but pricy. Our waitress was fantastic. They do have a 3-course fixed price meal for $55 pp which seams very reasonable. We will go back for sure.
