This place is a little gem. Great service, great food and amazing atmosphere.
I got the house special sandwich with Italian sausage on the bottom. It was light and delicious.
As a chef it’s hard to find a nice little place to sit and enjoy a well made meal. The guy making sandwiches was super friendly and helpful. You can definitely taste that he loves what he does.
I’d give this place more stars if i could! 10/10

I can’t believe I haven’t eaten here before because it’s right in my area. Great food, great service. The Chicago style roast beef sandwich with peppers was excellent. The bread was so good.

We were passing through Des Moines on our way back to Missouri and I was craving a Chicago-style Italian Beef. A quick search led us to Taste Of Italy! We will definitely be back, every time we’re in town! I can’t wait to get home and try the sauce and dressing We bought!

Wonderful Italian deli/grocery. Super friendly, great selection of sandwiches and deli salads. Pictured is the P.I.T.A, meatball, sausage, Italian beef, capicola, cheese and peppers. Also try the limoncello cake!

Used them for a catering order for a customer visit. While I visit customers, I like to support the local economy and had a great experience with Taste of Italy. They were on time, didn’t miss any of the items I ordered, and the entire team I worked with loved it. Will be using Taste of Italy in the future for any customer visits I have out in Des Moines.

Anything less than five stars would be criminal for a place this good. They have some of the best Italian food and arguably the best sub-sandwhiches in all of Des Moines. The food tastes authentic and flavourful, the portion sizes are generous without being excessive. The staff are friendly, kind and courteous and the service is always prompt.
It is without a doubt my absolute favourite place to grab a sandwhich when I’m in Iowa and I will continue to make myself a regular because I just cannot get enough of their delicious food. I hope they continue to find success.

If you go once, you will be back. Food does not get tastier then the food served at A Taste of Italy. Try anything on the menu and leave happy. They also have a nice selection of items to make at home. There is seating out front when the weather is nice enough as well.

Des Moines is known for its large Italian family connections who take pride in expressing their culture through authentic restaurants and deli’s. One such place is a small deli called: A Taste of Italy Grocery and Deli ran by Todd. The people are genuine and know their regulars. My combo of beef, provolone and sausage was awesome. The wait was small and the price was reasonable. A great place to stop and take in an authentic taste of Little Italy!
