A & J Ichiban is a cozy, centrally located sushi spot that offers friendly service and a decent menu for sushi lovers passing through or staying in Eureka.

What I Ordered:

Spider Rolls
Tuna Rolls
Edamame

Food Review:
The tuna rolls stood out — fresh, clean-tasting tuna with nicely prepared rice. The spider roll, while flavorful, was a bit too heavy on the fried element for my liking; the texture overpowered the more delicate components.

The edamame unfortunately missed the mark — overcooked and soggy, lacking that crisp pop you expect.

Service & Atmosphere:
What really stood out was the service — the ladies working were warm, attentive, and on top of things without being overbearing. The atmosphere is inviting, with comfortable seating for both solo diners and families.

Overall:
Reasonably priced, centrally located, and backed by great service, A & J Ichiban is worth a stop if you’re in town. With a bit of refinement to a few dishes, it could easily level up.

The food was fresh and tasty. Portions seemed generous, too. We’ll gladly go back next time we’re in town.

Definitely not the best sushi, it’s mediocre at best. Prices are descent tho so no complaints there, $9-17 per roll isn’t bad but the taste doesn’t have quality to it. I personally wouldn’t go back unless I absolutely had too! Just not worth spending the money on “eeh” sushi. Didnt get sick so thats a plus!! Service wasn’t bad tho!

Beware if you are eating here, dishes were dirty. Waitress didn’t seem to care. After all, she didn’t even bother coming by to refill our water. Chicken salad seemed to have all the sauce dumped in one place on the salad.
Hope we don’t end up getting sick.

Bring a jacket, cause it it super cold inside. (There is a old sign on the door claiming they arw going to get it fixed)

I will skip eating here for now on.

This is your a & j popcorn chicken? What a joke man most dry chicken I’ve ever eaten does not look like photos everyone in there must of been too winked out to even put sauce on my side or my roll after waiting 52 minutes for my order.

I would like to give this place another try. I got the chicken katsu lunch takeout special today, which I had called in with plenty of time. When I got there, it was clear the order had never been submitted to the kitchen, so I had to wait for 15 minutes while it was made.

The special came with delicious miso soup, a sad little iceberg lettuce salad, a tasty but small egg roll, and a really great piece of fresh melon for dessert. The chicken katsu and rice dish was decent, but nothing special.

Overall, pretty good value and quality.

I live near here, and it was crowded even though it was noon on a weekday. Looking forward to going back and giving them another shot – maybe dining in.

This place was so delicious! The rice was perfectly steamed and had a really nice soft texture, and the raw fish was really soft and had a nice texture and a really nice subtle flavor, not too fishy at all. The miso soup as well was perfect! So many places make there miso soup WAY too salty, but I feel like this one was the perfect balance 🙂 and had a wonderful savory flavor which was complemented by the green onions in it. The green tea was also super yummy! It wasn’t bitter and didn’t taste fishy, it was just really nice and calming. The ribs were super tender and tasted great, fell off the bone pretty nicely. Staff were super nice and food didn’t take too long to come out, and the bathrooms were very clean. It was all around just super yummy and I totally recommend this place! I want to come back to this place at some point for sure.

We really enjoy the food here. The fish is fresh and rolls have a lot of great flavors. Nice roll sizes for the price. Tried the Sesame balls from another persons review but didn’t think there was much to them. Service has been just ok when we’ve gone. It does get busy so they could have just been overwhelmed. They have beautiful paintings on the wall and TVs.

It has beautiful paintings. It has pretty good service. They served the sodas in the can, I thought that was a lil weird. But the food and the options was the best this place has to offer when it come to sushi.

Staff was friendly, greeted at the door. Sat quickly. We ordered two rolls an Island mango and a Red Dragon, and some items off the special board. The food was good, we would come back. The Island mango roll was the highlight of the selections!
