The only authentic Australian meat pie hot bake on the east coast, and the original Aussie bakery in the USA helped make the Australian Bakery Cafe an instant success. As owner Mark Allen explains, it was their quest for quality that spread word quickly, “Early on we decided our goal was not just to make the best meat pies here in America, but to make sure they rival anything back home in Australia too.” In fact homesick Aussies all across America arrange travel plans just to receive a genuine taste of home. “Often people will say our product is as good, or better, than what they get back home. I reckon that’s a pretty big pat-on-the-back.”
Known for its savory pies, this spot with limited seating also carries groceries from down under.

Tried the original Aussie meat pie. It was fair in size and the perfect pasty shell but the meat gravy wasn’t the best I’ve had. 7/10
Chips-10/10 Amazing chips. Devoured them, crispy kettle style with a great seasoning choice. Unique! when you order a meat pie for dine-in, it comes with a small amount of chips but when you order it to-go, it doesn’t come with the little chips. I ordered one meat pie dine-in and two to-go. I asked for a few extra chips on my dine-in order since they don’t give them on my order to-go. She charged me $1.50 side order of chips and wasn’t going to mention it until I asked her about it which I didn’t like. Tell me ahead that to add extra you’d have to charge/let me decide. All good
The Burgundy Meat Pie & Steak & Onion Meat Pie 10/10 The flavors were what I was looking for in the original meat pie. The burgundy has thicker chunks of steak in wine that makes for a wonderful flavor & chew. I see why people order four.
Banana Muffin-10/10 Great moisture, size, flavor, and price. Makes me want to try the lemon curd, blueberry and other options.
Caramel Slice-delicious10/10 Great size, price and taste. It’s a bit too sweet. Can’t eat it all. Maybe something like nuts, more breading or a sugar reduction can help balance this.
Apple Slice-10/10 my favorite of the three. taste like apple pie but with shortbread. love the bread and the filling was thick/real apples. The bread gets a bit soggy and can taste undone, but I devoured it first. Maybe the breading could be a bit firmer like pound cake, a little cinnamon or nutmeg can be added. Great price/value.
Really want to try the fish, all the other meat pies, literally their entire menu next time. Pleasantly surprised. All bakeries are different and I like the style of this one. Off my first experience, I don’t see why they wouldn’t deserve five stars.
They have meat pies, sandwiches, bakery items, and a little grocery section that has various Australian goodies, even Vegemite. Really cute atmosphere! Plenty of seating indoors and outdoors.
I got the meat pie lunch special. The portion size looked a bit small but it was enough to hit the spot. So good!!! The gravy inside the pie was really flavorful and seasoned well. I also got pavlova and it’s legit! Tastes just like the ones I’ve had in Australia. So yummy that I wound up enjoying another one.
The staff was really sweet and I really enjoyed my visit. I’d definitely visit again for sure.
