Love going to Kyung’s because you get to enjoy sashimi, kalbi, and meat jeon at the same time!
We got the 24pc sashimi platter, kalbi + meat jeon plate, and the seafood soft tofu stew. They also give you banchan that comes with cabbage kimchi, onions, and macaroni salad.
Sashimi portion was generous and each slice was thick. The sashimi platter comes with ahi, salmon, and hamachi. The salmon had a nice fat zebra-like marbling, which melts in your mouth!
The seafood soft tofu stew had a lot of ingredients like mussels, shrimp, clams, and an egg. One of the best stew I had in Hawai’i. You can really taste the sea not in a fishy way.
Meat jean was delicious and not soggy. Kalbi was thick and good, can’t go wrong.
Service was very quick and friendly. Good AC. I was able to find street parking a block away from the restaurant which is free on Sundays.

I swear that this the BEST Korean food restaurant that you’ll ever find in Hawaii. I would highly recommend their soju slushies as they are very delicious. Also get the sashimi platter because they are thick slices and are very delicious. It is a small restaurant so try to get there early. The waiter are very nice and very friendly. They always are good at recommending the best things on the menu. As a local, I always come here whenever I’m craving Korean food.

The place is definitely a hole-in-the-wall place, but the food is amazing. We went their twice during our vacation, and tried to go a third time but the wait was too long. We had the Kalbi, the meat Jun and both the spicy and mild version of the fried chicken wings which were life-altering LOL. Everything was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The wings were golden and crispy and very juicy inside (I don’t know how the cook them like that). The spicy had a serious kick. And the kimchee and pickled daikon that was served with Mac salad to each table was also amazing. And the prices were reasonable. I’d recommend them to anyone and everyone who is not a vegetarian.

Looks like a hole in the wall from the outside. Inside was dark, but AC was on so it’s comfortable. Place was full at noon on a Sunday. Server was exceptionally friendly and I can see a lot of regulars coming for lunch. They knew their regulars well and served them what they normally want without them asking.
Ordered Oyster Jun and the 1/2 lb Mama Special Poké. When you order the poke by the lb there’s no rice, which is what we wanted.
Free sides were offered. $3 if you’d like to replenish the sides. Kimchi was good and not spicy which was good for my friend. Daikon was spicy which was tasty for me. Macaroni was okay. Creamy and I’m just not a fan of cold macaroni, but some might like the macaroni salad.
Oyster Jun was basically oysters wrapped in fried egg batter. It was very tasty and fried to a crisp. Delicious and would come for this again.
Mama’s special poke is basically ahi tuna, fish roe and onions. We were surprised it had no sauce so it didn’t have much flavour if you eat it on it’s own. There were mild and spicy options, maybe it would’ve been different if we ordered spicy? Or maybe they forgot to put on the sauce altogether because the server asked me to pay before my poke came. Then when I asked if I can have the poke before paying she was very apologetic that they forgot and gave us maybe 1lb of poke instead of the 1/2lb. They do have sauces you can add on your own. Maybe that’s how its meant to be, you add your own sauces. It was tasty after adding the soy sauce and sesame sauce after.
Overall service was excellent. The Korean server was very enthusiastic and made recommendations when we asked. Food was okay, but maybe I didn’t understand what I’m supposed to do with the poke. Tuna was fresh and worth the price. Plenty of fish roe and I like the seasoned onions.

Holy cow keep this secret spot a hidden gem! Me, a tourist found this delightful restaurant and staff through Reddit. Was not disappointed – immediately parking the car the smell of kalbi cooking permeated the air. But we didn’t come here for the kalbi, but the sashimi platter! $30 for 24 thick slices of ahi, salmon and hamachi. Staff warmly greeted us as we walked in – asked if we had a reservation (we didn’t – busy Saturday night) and managed to seat us. The restaurant was half filled and customers kept coming and going! The restaurant ran out of salmon so we had 12x ahi and 12x hamachi which was fine! Out also came a side of Korean pickled onions, kimchi and macaroni. The kind young server even offered us a bowl of rice to go along with the sashimi. Would return again and tell all my friends visiting Honolulu about Kyung’s Seafood!

Lived in Hawaii 15 years ago. I am WHITE- a haole… Came back to the island to visit with my kids (9 and 11) Clearly we were not welcomed…. Not even interested in taking our names for a reservation. I was so excited to show my family a part of my past and some delicious food. Explain this to me -in 2025- so I can explain to my kids.
Would love to go back at a less busier time- but I will not give a dollar more of my money.
Great local spot- food is great. Super sad because of my skin – and eyes shape- we are not welcomed.
Sad.

Holy shit, this place is an absolute gem! 10/10 for the sashimi, the vibe, and the overall experience—no, scratch that, 100/10 because Kai, our server, made it next-level amazing. Didn’t even know Honolulu could have a spot this perfect for a meal, but damn, they nailed it. This is officially going into my pocket list, and I’m about to tell every single one of my friends to try it. If you’re in Honolulu and don’t eat here, you’re seriously missing out!

If you’re craving a delicious combination of fresh sashimi and sizzling Korean BBQ, look no further than Kyung’s Seafood, a hidden local gem that perfectly blends two beloved culinary traditions.
The sashimi here is top-notch. Each piece is incredibly fresh, with melt-in-your-mouth tuna, salmon, and hamachi, expertly sliced and served chilled. The fish is pristine, with no strong fishy taste, showcasing the quality and care that goes into sourcing the ingredients. The accompanying soy sauce and wasabi are just the right balance, complementing the delicate flavors of the fish without overpowering them. The presentation is also beautiful, with vibrant colors that make each dish a visual treat. Their Spicy Ahi Poke was unique and delicious. Highly recommend!
