The only downside to our visit was the service. Our server, Eddie, was… interesting. His behavior was quite odd and definitely a bit “off-beat,” which made for some awkward moments throughout the meal.
Overall, the food is worth the visit, even if the service comes with a side of quirkiness!
I’ve been trying to contact the restaurant to inform them about this but haven’t been able to reach anyone. If someone there can please reach out we would be most appreciative!
He ate two Baja fresh rolls with the spicy tuna and he’s the only one who had much of those rolls.
We also had the Hamachi carpaccio (amazing), salmon on top (we asked for no mayo on it but it came drenched in mayo), dragon roll, Toro sashimi, salmon nigiri (delectable!), and shishito peppers (drowning in sauce). The sashimi was extremely stringy and too fibrous to consume. They were very gracious about refunding the money for our sashimi since it was too hard to eat.
They brought my son a birthday dessert with a candle on top which was a sweet touch.
They do seem extremely busy and it’s a frenetic atmosphere as it seems they are trying to serve a lot of sushi to many people. It seems more like the ambience of a Chinese restaurant than a Japanese restaurant.
The dishes that were great were truly phenomenal but some were a miss. And apparently one caused illness which is a massive bummer. We flew home early today since one of my sons was so sick, so we missed our final day of hiking, pool, and sunshine. I hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else.
I didn’t want to put this in a public forum until I spoke with the restaurant but can’t reach anyone and just want someone to be aware of the situation.
They’ve got one of those robot food delivery trolleys with an electronic face and cat ears. It’s very cute.
Overall, this is a great place to eat. The portion sizes are generous, and the staff is friendly. It’s my favorite (non-teppanyaki) Japanese restaurant in town.
We have tried so many places in the valley, and we fell in love with JOYCE and the chefs so attentively and fast with our orders, the fish, Oysters is so fresh.
You will have to do a wait as it is always super busy but it is worth the wait I promise.
