Went down to Toledo for a vegan meetup at El Tipico Restaurant
We felt very spoiled to be in a place that served vegan queso blanco, cheese, and sour cream. They offered grilled veggies, mexican potatoes, and pea protein crumbles as fillings for many of their dishes. Also was super excited to have dishes with mole too.
There were so many options available it was almost paralyzing
Pictured are the mexican pizza, enchilada mole with, chimichanga with verde sauce, super burro with mole, pappas mexicanas (potatoes cooked with tomatoes).

This restaurant is amazing!! I found out about it after seeing someone post about their vegan options on the Vegan Detroit facebook group and luckily I was in Toledo the same day! Their vegan queso is delicious, and is something you almost never find anywhere. I’m so happy to know that I can order it here! I also got enchiladas rojo filled with grilled onions and peppers with vegan cheese and refried beans and rice on the side. Even just having vegan/vegetarian refried beans on the menu is so rare and everything was fresh and delicious. The staff is so friendly and the restaurant is really warm and cozy. I can’t wait to come back!

The restaurant had a charming and homely atmosphere. The staff were amazing—kind, considerate, accommodating, and always happy to answer questions. The menu is primarily gluten-free and organic, and with some substitutions, all dishes can be made completely gluten-free. They even have a special protocol in place for people with Celiac disease. The food was fantastic; it was the best Mexican food I have ever had and possibly one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten. I have never written a review before, but this place was so exceptional that I felt compelled to share my experience.

They always take amazing care of my family and I with all of our food allergies. We’ve been coming here for years and it’s by far one of my favourite places to eat.
Two of us have celiac, one person has a dairy allergy, and one of us is plant-based. None of us have EVER gotten sick here, it’s extremely safe and the food is fantastic! Fair prices too. 10000 / 10 would recommend to anyone!!

As nice of a staff as you’ll find anywhere. One of the family came out at the end of our meal. Chimichanga the size of my head. Everything tasted incredible. So fresh. Mild and hot salsa were both great.

We had read about El Tipico, a Mexican restaurant that’s been in Toledo for over 50 years, so after golf my husband and I decided to give it a try. Being from California, we’re used to really good Mexican food and were excited for the experience—especially since Toledo doesn’t have many good options. I ordered the Mexican Combo #1, and my husband had a beef tip taco and a ground beef taco. Unfortunately, the beef tip burrito with gravy was inedible—the meat had an odd flavor and texture, and the gravy was nasty. The cheese enchilada was filled with an oily substance and topped with a terrible sauce. We barely touched our meals and left disappointed. We won’t be returning.

We enjoyed an exceptional Valentine’s dinner at EL Tipico, with outstanding food and service, for a reasonable $60.00 per couple, which included an appetizer, two entrees, and dessert. We have enjoyed El Tipico’s many times over the years. Toledo is blessed to have an authentic, organic Mexican restaurant whose owner cares about using only the freshest ingredients!

At first, the place might not look like much, but don’t let that fool you. The food is authentic. I’m not a fan of the salsa and chips, but the tacos and the queso with chorizo are packed with flavor—absolutely worth it.
