The food blends Latin and Asian influences in a way that feels both creative and refined. We had the tuna tataki, shrimp & crab enchiladas, roasted cauliflowers, pork belly & scallops, catch of the day—all packed with flavor and beautifully presented. Cocktails were just as impressive—well-balanced, refreshing, and fun to explore.
Service was friendly and polished, and the staff really took time to explain dishes and make the night feel personal.
Whether you’re into sushi, steak, or Latin fusion, Toro delivers on all fronts. Great for a date night, birthday dinner, or just treating yourself while in Cabo.
Toro is a favorite of ours when in Cabo. We love the ambiance plus the food and service are second to none.
Here’s what happened:
Last night, my partner and I had dinner at 8:30 pm. Earlier that day, at 5:30 pm, I called the restaurant to ask if smoking was allowed. Laura, the hostess, answered the phone and confirmed that it was, specifically telling me she would note a terrace table for that reason.
When we arrived, Laura recognized us and confirmed that we had requested a terrace table, asking us to wait a few minutes for one to become available. Up to that point, everything was fine. However, at the end of dinner, I asked for an ashtray to smoke a cigar and was told by the waiter that smoking was not allowed. I explained that the hostess had told me over the phone that it was permitted, and he said it must have been a miscommunication.
Laura then came over again, and this is the main reason for my rating. Instead of addressing the issue politely, she made mocking facial expressions and tried to put me in an awkward position, saying, “I understand your point, but it’s federal law.” I wasn’t arguing the law — I was simply pointing out that she was the one who told me over the phone that smoking was allowed on the terrace, which is why we were seated there.
If smoking isn’t allowed on the terrace and guests are required to go to a designated smoking area, that’s completely fine and understandable. What isn’t acceptable is giving incorrect information and then handling the situation in an unprofessional and unpleasant way.
That said, the food was very good, and our waiter was excellent, offering great recommendations and providing outstanding service throughout the evening. Unfortunately, the hostess’s attitude was the only thing that negatively affected an otherwise enjoyable dining experience.
