Shad’s Catfish Hole near Sallisaw, OK is one of those hidden gems that’s worth every mile of the drive. It’s a cozy, homey little spot with a welcoming atmosphere and often live music that makes the place feel like an old-fashioned family gathering. The food is nothing short of spectacular especially their all-you-can-eat menu featuring tender catfish, clams, chicken, frog legs, and both fried and boiled shrimp.
Before your main course even arrives, they bring out what they call the “set up” which features beans, hushpuppies, coleslaw, onions, and pickles, and everything tastes fresh and perfectly seasoned. The staff is super friendly and attentive really making sure everyone feels right at home.
So if you’re looking for delicious Southern-style comfort food and a laid-back evening, I highly recommend Shad’s Catfish Hole. And for those wondering: yes, they do accept card payments!

Took our whole family for lunch. The decor was super cute with fishing and boat items on the walls. It was quiet enough we could hear each other and enjoy the whole place. We had catfish, shrimp and chicken. All were delicious.

Found this resturant on yelp during an evening of travel. Don’t let some of the reviews steer you away – it almost did for us but thought we give it a try. This place was delicious and the people were so friendly. Our meal started with a fantastic server Jaylie who treated us like family and answered all of our questions about the food honestly. As the other reviews have said the set up with beans, slaw and hush puppies are a must. All very tasty and the hush puppies and beans are a standout. We had the catfish based on Jaylies recommendation and it was great and being from Oklahoma we know our catfish. It was Perfectly fried with great crunchy batter with HAND CUT fries and trust me when I say the fries are worth the stop alone. If you travel a lot you know how rare handout fries are and these were spectacular. The entire experience was great, inexpensive and really just good food and nice people. Highly recommend!

We were plenty surprised! We had read others reviews and were a little nervous about what to order. However, diners inside recommended the fish and the grilled chicken. Jaylie, our waitress, brought us the set up to get us going. My husband ordered the all-you-can-eat catfish dinner. My sister-in-law and I ordered the 2 piece catfish meal with hand cut fries. In the set up you receive coleslaw (not too sweet and not too tart), beans that apparently are a safeguarded recipe (delicious but do have beef tallow in them—info only for those Alpha Gal positive), a dill pickle spears and onion plate, and a bowl of hushpuppies (holy schmokes, these puppies are delicious!! ). Everything in the setup was made fresh! The catfish was hot, crispy, crunchy, and delicious! Jaylie was very kind, and personable. It was an oasis we had been looking for in the Sequoyah County area. Hidden gem for sure!! Thank you, Jaylie, for the great service and treating us like family! We will definitely be back!!

The last 3 times I’ve been there I’ve gotten all you can eat catfish and all 3 times I got all you can eat beans and coleslaw and 3 little pieces of catfish and told it would be 5 minutes on more catfish then 30 minutes go buy no catfish I’m starting to think it’s planned that way. And in my ball game 3 strikes and your out.

It is all you can eat and the food is very good. The starters are pinto beans, slaw, pickled green tomatoes, onion and pickles, and hush puppies. The meal comes with your choice of fries, baked potato or vegetables. The pinto beans are great and the slaw is some of the best I have had in any restaurant. The hush puppies are served up fresh from the fryer. They are hot, light in texture and crispy on the outside. Even though they were good, I wish they had a little more flavor like the traditional hush puppy with onion and a little spice. The fish was average. Maybe over cooked a little to my liking. In all it was still a very good meal and a tremendous value for all you can eat. They also have a good variety of other seafood. Their business hours are very limited, so make sure you call before you go.

From the moment you walk in the door you are treated to good southern hospitality. The fixin’s have the best beans around. The catfish is fried to perfection and the baked potato is fabulously fluffy. The gentleman providing entertainment was lively and very talented. Grabbed some freeze dried treats as we headed out.

Oh my goodness! The catfish was amazing!! We came into town to see our elders and wanted some catfish. Couldn’t have picked a better place. Called in our order and was greated with friendly helpful service. Sweet home-style restaurant. Even had live music Catfish, hushpuppies French fries and the best pinto beans! The gentleman who cashed us out was so kind.
