I paired it with a mule from the happy hour menu and it hit just right. Cold refreshing and balanced which made it easy to settle in and stay awhile.
The bar itself feels like a classic neighborhood tavern. Lots of rich wood paneling warm textures and low lighting that reminds me of an old school dive bar you would find up north but polished and intentional. It is cozy without feeling cramped and relaxed without feeling sloppy.
This is the kind of place that works for a quick bite after work an easy happy hour or a laidback date where you actually want to talk. Comfortable welcoming and quietly charming. I came for the bar but I will definitely be back for the food.
Ordered: Cottage Pie Skins
Guinness Beef Stew
Fish and Chips
Baileys Cheese Cake
Guinness Extra
Sweet Tea and Water
Cottage Pie Skins. I thought this wasn’t going to taste like much of anything but I was wrong. The ground meat was delicious and the capers and carrots tender. Their whipped mashed are amazing! No words can describe our excitement over the way they tasted.
Guinness Beef Stew was flavorful and piping hot. You don’t need to add any salt or anything to this dish. The veggies are tender. The meet is tender and delicious. Their potatoes are a hit.
Fish and chips. The fries look a but greasy but far from it. They are salted to perfection and are delightfully homemade. The fish would have been the star of the show but unfortunately mine was a little over done so the cod was chewy. Regardless, it was delicious.
The cheese cake was spectacular. You can taste the bailey’s which tones down any sweetness. It was very delightful.
Definitely come back to try more dishes. When I do I will update.
Total before tip: $67.49
The Potato and Leek soup was just cream and no other flavors. Wasn’t really any potato. I went there to maybe try the cottage pie or chicken pot pie. Which all have a special cream sauce, I think the soup I ate was JUST the cream sauce. So I looked to order something else, disappointed I went with then steak sandwich.
Streak sandwich is the just the ingredients listed placed on an open faced hoagie. The steak is just three strips of steak, which were inedible. Of the just fat and cartilage, I literally wouldn’t be able to swallow the pieces unless I chewed for 20min. The napkins in the photo are where I spit out the pieces. Ive never done this in a restaurant before. I’m not at all a picky eater, but it was literally inedible. Of the steak, maybe 1/6 of it was actual meat.
I would come back here to drink again, service was good. But I have no clue why the ratings are so high. I frequent Irish and english places often (soccer fan) so I know what a potato and leek soup should taste like. Steak sandwich was terrible.
This place is exactly what I picture a pub in Ireland looking like! They managed to seat our group of 9 without any issue, and the service was top-notch throughout our stay.
Everyone in the group absolutely loved their food. The Guinness beef stew and the cottage pie were definitely our favorites!
