What a cute place! It’s a tiny spot off the beaten path that is easy to miss.

We had amazing service. The place was packed, and they were short-staffed, but I never felt forgotten. Our server/hostess/everything was so sweet.

The goat cheese salads were delicious. The waffles were to die for. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, with chocolate and strawberries, we practically inhales it, even though I was definitely full before I started into it.

I love that they celebrate both the Walloon and Flemish sides of Belgium, including in dueling house salads. A neighboring table ordered mussels, and it smelled just like they do in Brussels. Their beer and wine list is solid. I will definitely be back!

Came here with my family and we rather enjoyed ourselves. Our waitress was lovely and very friendly.

The mussels were a sizeable offering though I will say I don’t notice a huge flavor difference between the two options we got. The Wallon salad was fantastic, and that’s coming from someone who doesn’t normally order salads.

The restaurant itself is rather cozy and the outdoor patio area looks like it’d be lovely a warm evening.

My only complaint would be that a lot of beer options weren’t available and that the bathroom looked like it could’ve maybe used a mid-day cleaning.

Had a wonderful birthday dinner outside on the patio. The mussels were delicious. The fries almost as good as the ones I had in Belgium (those being ah-mazing!) which means they were worth the calories. The only ding I have is on the waffle for dessert. It could just be a personal preference, but the middle of my Biscoff waffle was not cooked enough. It had far too mushy a texture. The edges were perfect though. I will be back and if I order the waffle again, I may just see if the waffle can be served “well done”. Lovely atmosphere and attentive servers along with delicious food and a great beer list.

Popular restaurant. We ordered food but the food went to another table several times, so we were there longer than expected. The server apologized and gave us a percentage off the meal, which was minor. The shrimp were delicious and we loved the mussels. The fries, waffles and the French onion soup was okay. Parking was a bit bad, but you have to wait for a spot.

I came across a pretty cool bistro hiding in Occoquan. The food was great and authentic. The mussels, whatever soup you may choose, are a must and of course the Belgian fries. The special dishes as well are fantastic. I had one of the latter: the crab cake. Fantastic. Cozy place and great service.

Save yourself a ruined evening and avoid this restaurant at all costs. Period.

I have never written a review before on any platform, but felt very compelled to speak up and warn others about this establishment.

The Food :

Mussels – Served slightly cold in a flavorless watered-down sauce. But the more concerning aspect was the mussels that had been served grey, spoiled, and likely dead prior to steaming. Here’s to hoping that food poisoning doesn’t also accompany this already disappointing dish.

Coq & Bleu (chicken) – Served partially uncooked, raw, and barely edible.

Crab Cakes – $32 for what can only be described as oversized hush puppies. I have had crabcakes with a lot of bready “filler” before, but these were criminally lacking in actual crab of any sort. Without exaggeration, there was, at most, 10% crab mixed with 90% bread-filling. Beyond disappointing and verging on worthy enough to submit a fraud complaint to the FTC for false advertising and deceptive product claims.

The Service: Even though we were one of maybe two or three tables in the whole venue, service was very slow and virtually non-existent. We were seated on the patio on a chilly day and when we asked if a heat lamp could be brought out, we were told by the hostess that the restaurant didn’t own any heat lamps (even though we were looking at and pointing towards the three large heat lamps they had stored right next to the back patio).

This was hands-down the most disappointing dining-out experience we have ever had. Buyer beware, you’ve now been warned.

We had a fantastic lunch! The steak sandwich was super tender and the mussels were so delicious. If you love beer they have a fantastic variety. The owner was so welcoming, and the staff super attentive!! Thanks so much for a perfect lunch and relaxing time!

Absolutely lovely. For the most part, it’s peaceful with music in the background. The food was delicious. My husband ordered the brew, haha mussels, and I had the veggie quiche with French onion soup. I didn’t like the French onion soup as much because it was too thick and sweet for me. The non-alcoholic apple cider was delicious. A definite must try place.
The service took a while, but that’s only because they’re currently short staffed. Our waiter was very informative and attentive.

What a great place to escape, too! We found Cock & Bowl Belgian Bistro and went because we were missing Europe. The vibe was perfect. We had Belgian beer and fries. The only thing that would have made it better is if we were served mayo with the fries. I know, it sounds strange, but it really is next level.

Very small room with pretty plain decor. Service was fine but the food wasn’t good at all. We had the Belgian fries as an appetizer and they were no better than fast food fries. The 2 entrees we got were both mediocre to bad. Even the beer was disappointing. Editing to reply to the owner’s response. Grinch or not, I did very much enjoy walking through Occoquan at Christmas time with all the beautiful lights. I wish I had better things to say about the restaurant. It was recommended to us by our neighbors who did enjoy their experience there over the summer. I admit I can be picky (I am from Europe and have had the pleasure to visit Belgium a few times, which I very much enjoyed) but my husband is usually happy with most meals and even he didn’t enjoy the food. Hopefully it was just an off night because I love the idea of a good Belgian restaurant close by!
