Puerto Sagua 700 Collins Ave; 673-1115. A down-home Cuban diner on trendy South Beach – still a workable combo. Ropa vieja is tender, strips of meat basted in tomato-flavored broth. Tasty picadillo has the requisite green olives, while chicken with yellow rice, decorated with peas and pimientos, is an enormous portion. Or gaze at the Scull sisters’ mural of Havana while scarfing the black bean soup that’s fragrant with bay leaves and rings of white onion. Spooned over buttery white rice or toasted Cuban bread and accompanied by the Spanish buzz of heated conversations, a bowl of this stuff will last you all day. $$
No pretensions, no frills, just comfort-food staples like Cuban sandwich & ropa vieja since 1962.

Puerto Sagua Restaurant Authentic Cuban Dining Experience
Reviews
This restaurant is also one of the last places my little brother loved to visit before he passed, so being back here brought a mix of memories, gratitude, and peace. It felt like reconnecting with a part of him, surrounded by the flavors he enjoyed so much.
Thank you, Puerto Sagua, for the incredible food, the wonderful attention, and for holding a little piece of our story. I loved being back, and I’ll definitely return again.
This is traditional diner food with some Cuban flair. I’ve had these same pancakes and sausage links in a million diners before, but in a way that tastes like it really was made just for me. The Cuban coffee is definitely a highlight.
Would I go out of my way to eat here again? Probably not. But it was the perfect place to grab some breakfast after a sunrise run down the boardwalk, and for that I’m happy I stopped by.
The staff is super friendly and makes you feel right at home. They’re happy if you speak Spanish – it’s a great place to practice – but you can just as easily speak English.
The restaurant itself has a charming, old-fashioned look – it’s been around for over 50 years, and that’s exactly what gives it its warm, nostalgic atmosphere. You really feel comfortable there, like the world is still a little simpler and calmer.
A truly authentic spot for anyone who loves real Cuban food in a cozy, welcoming setting!
I will definitely be back here when we return to Miami. Best place you can go to to feel even just a little of cuban culture and cuisine.
This place is authentic and doing an amazing job retaining its character and authenticity. It doesn’t ride along with the vibes of change. It is its own and that makes it very powerful and its own standards.
I also love the small diner-style vibe. It feels cozy and classic, and even when it’s busy, the waitress is always attentive and on top of everything. I’ve gone with my family multiple times, and every trip we end up talking about when we’re coming back because it’s just that good.
It’s funny because we kind of stumbled upon this place the first time, which feels wild considering how iconic it is. I’ve recommended it to other people too, and it’s always a hit!
There’s also a seafood dish in a broth that I can never remember the name of, but it’s AMAZING. It’s super flavorful and comforting. Usually if I ask the waitress, she kindly takes care of me & brings it out. We usually all order different things so we can try a little of everything, and honestly, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.
This is definitely a must-stop for me every time I’m in Miami.
