RUDE STAFF! Went through the drive-through and ordered two hot dogs, a fry, and a drink. Got to the window. They finally handed me my food. I was missing one of the hot dogs. She said she didn’t bring it up, so I paid for one. After that, she was so rude. She didn’t even acknowledge me. It was transactional, no customer service at all. I don’t appreciate being treated that way as a customer. I asked for extra mustard packets. I didn’t get them. I had to ask a second time and got two little packs. I’m a mustard person. I like a lot of mustard on my hot dogs, so I had to ask her for some more. She never even said anything back to me, like she was a mute during all these transactions. Horrible customer service!

I’ve had a love affair with Steak and Shake my entire life but I have to say I’m done with it. I was disappointed when they got rid of the servers but I thought at least I could get good food still in the drive through. Now I’m more than one occasion the fries have not been even cooked all the way. They still have fantastic burgers but the wait staff in the drive through was kind of rude. I’m thinking to myself why should I spend my money if someone’s not even being polite? The girl on drive through was eating food and on her phone. Too busy on that to be providing customer service I guess…..

I’d like to start out by saying that I grew up loving Steak ‘n Shake from the early 1960’s. I came back to St. Louis to visit family, etc. and I was eager to go to a Steak ‘n Shake again. I was surprised to find no one at the front counter. Instead, we found a kiosk that says.. “Order from the kiosk for dine in or take out”.
There was nobody around the front area, so we started ordering from the kiosk.. I had a question about ordering, etc. so I called out to the line cook since nobody else was available. A man came out and stared me down while I was asking my question. I had to ask him two times as he acted as though he didn’t understand what I was asking, which was if the order would come out in a bag or on a tray. The kiosk would indicate “add to bag”.. I find all of this very odd as there’s nobody anywhere to be found in the dining room, behind the counter, nor at the pick up area. This is NOT how Steak n’ Shake got its name.. There are nostalgic pictures on the wall of the 1950’s days gone by.. What I experienced today at the restaurant was utterly disappointing! It’s too bad that my last trip to Steak n’ Shake had to be like this. The beef was clearly not ground steak, the fries were old, and not hot or fresh..and again, nobody was around to let them know! The very small, cookie sized burger was smothered in mustard, so you could not taste anything else.. Overall, this could be the worst fast food experience ever! Please take a look at the pictures to see how abandoned this place looks!

Wasn’t very clean. Noone greeted you as you walked in. All the employees seemed to be yelling at each other in the back. The women’s bathroom had a unusable toilet and the other toilet was in the process of breaking. Things have really gone down hill since COVID with steak n shake.

I can’t lie, I love Steak N Shake but the new butter burger I had today almost took me out! It was way too much butter on there for me. I get I got a butter burger but that was just way too much butter to have me choking. I tried to push through but I just had to put it on another slice of bread. The milkshake was good though. The guy in drive through had great customer service also.

Good food, slow as molasses in winter. 8-13 minute order took more than 30mins and wasn’t right. When out of an item that was app-ordered they gave me the rest of the order and sent me on the way, neglecting to mention that the 4th meal was unavailable. Was 5 mins down the road when that was discovered and had to go back.

This location has deginately lost its shine and it will be awhile before returning.

I recently visited Steak and Shake in Kirkwood and had a pleasant experience. This is the typical go-to place for burgers and shakes, and we enjoyed our meals, despite a 20-minute wait. The cook even came out to talk to us and apologize for the delay, explaining that they were short-staffed. Overall, I found the chili and burgers to be good. I appreciated the personal touch from the cook and the overall dining experience.

I don’t know why I even went back after months of not going to this location. First the restaurant is absolutely disgusting. Dirty tables, non verbal staff. The burgers don’t taste the same like they used to. I ordered the double cheeseburger with a medium fry and a side of cheese, to Go. When I open my bag, I found that my fries were cold and burnt. I tried eating a few but it was like trying to chew on pretzel sticks. Not even the cheese helped. The burger was cold in the bun is gross. I don’t know if they have new owners but this place has gone down. If the owners are foreign, then you know that this Steak and Shake location will have zero standards. They’ll do just a bare minimum to stay open. I should have taken pictures but I wanted to get out of there so fast. I could just pick a random day and take a few pictures as an update because the nastiness will be the same and I don’t understand how they have five-star reviews. Seems fishy.

We placed our order online to pass on the kiosk and did not have the option to dine in. We ordered chili 5 ways and onion rings. Also ordered the classic double steak burger with cheese and fries. We told the manager we planned to dine in. The food came out in a bag and no order of fries. The server brought a platter of fries to go with my now cold cheeseburger. No tray and no baskets for our food.
