WOW! I’ve been waiting eight years since I moved to Queenstown to have the opportunity to come and eat here. It was so worth the wait! Everything was impeccable! I thought it was super special to have the cocktail artist of the year come to the table and recommend me a drink with something I was after but not quite sure! I loved his confidence that the drink of choice would be perfect and it was! Not too sweet just right.

On to the food!
We started with the Kokoda, followed by the scallops and tuna poke nachos. All of which were fresh and amazing flavours! Very different from “normal” or standards tastes!

We moved on to the big Kahuna plates and ordered the Boil Up and the chicken curry with a side of rice.

Holy wow! Everything was just perfect! I am seriously impressed.

The service was perfect, not too pushy, was there when needed and super helpful.

Loved that even though we were fist table we didn’t get treated any differently and were able to also select a seat of choice.

Thanks for making us feel equal!

Seafood was fresh and service was average. The shrimp was good. Honestly flavors were ok but I wasn’t blown away. Presentation is nice though. I feel like it’s a nice spot but a bit overhyped. I’m going to stick to fergburger for the rest of my trip since I feel the quality to price ratio is a bit better. I don’t mind spending more for food, but I was a bit underwhelmed when I was looking for something to wow me.

Good Asian-style food. Oysters which were fresh. Fried calamari was interesting (and spicy) with the gochujang sauce. Salmon waffle cone was also pretty good.

For mains, the braised pork belly tasted pretty good, but meat wasn’t very tender and the sauce was a bit too sweet for me. The steamed fish was simple but nice.

The koko samoa cheesecake for dessert was VERY nice. My favourite item there.

Me as an Asian, experiencing all kinds of Asian food and know which dish is which and what they’re going on, I can definitely say that the fusion dishes from Blue Kanu fit my taste well. WAY TOO WELL.
The soft crab curry itself got me two huge bowls of rice in order for me to not waste a single drop of that sauce. The taste is AMAZING. 10 out of 10.
Do remember to reverse your seat beforehand, it’s very popular!!!

Absolutely amazing dinner in Queenstown. We ended up sitting at the bar due to our lack of reservation and were glad we were able to get in at all. The drinks were fun and tiki inspired. We ended up getting the tasting menu which was well worth it for the amount of food we got. The delicious Polynesian/Southeast Asian food that was thrown at us had us consistently wowed. One of the best meals we had in NZ hands down.

Wow. Go here and get these ribs! The sauce is outstanding.

Then get the Big Boil. It’s a seafood curry/soup that is honestly one of the best things we’ve ever had. The soup is a perfect balance of creamy and spiced and sweet all at once. The shrimp, soft shell crab, and mussels are all a perfect pair.

We have to mention the outstanding service as well! Super attentive and friendly.

Food comes out fast here too!

Amazing restaurant in Queenstown! The food was excellent, the service was outstanding, and the ambience was absolutely fantastic. Everything came together to create a wonderful dining experience, and I would highly recommend this place.
Special mention to our waitress, Michelle, she was attentive, friendly, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout our visit. Truly great service!

Probably the best cocktails in town! The staff were very friendly, especially Andre, who made amazing cocktails for us.
We were also celebrating a birthday and they made it feel really special.
Thank you so much!

The service here is very friendly. Delicious tiki cocktails with themed glassware – we had the lava flow and coconut caipirinha. The food was DELICIOUS – incredibly tasty and fresh fusion flavours. We had the salmon tataki, Fijian fish kokoda (amazing), sticky pork ribs, and duck pancakes. One of our favourite restaurants in Queenstown.

Happy to have finally tried Blue Kanu!
Restaurant was booked but was able to sit at the bar which was perfect when dining solo.
Wasn’t that hungry so only tried 2 entrees the raw fish and the rendang bao buns. Both different and yum!
Had to wash it down with a Singapore sling not my fave cocktail but was ok.
Great ambience and a bit noisy as it was pretty full.
Friendly bar staff that helped explain the menu and make some suggestions.
