I had the Canada Jack burger with no bun , a little bland but excellent burger taste with Canadian bacon and Monterey jack cheese (the Swanee burger is much better). I added grilled onions for more flavor.
My date had the Friday night special – a 10 ounce sirloin steak with a side of coleslaw and a side of cottage cheese. All was delicious! I gave it a 9.5/10. The server was so kind and attentive. Great prices and excellent quality!

Prime Rib daily Saturday special is smoked by them and is PHENOMENAL! Get there early waitress said they sometimes run out at 6:30pm it’s so popular. Every seat in the house filled with what looked like grandparents, parents, and kids. Such a nice family environment. I felt like I was in a ski lodge in Europe with excellent service. It amazes me how my waitress was so attentive. She came to my table at least 3 times to check on me when she had other tables with parties of 4. I was not overlooked as a party of 1 and got great great service. I will definitely be back!

Arrived for fish dinner at lunch and were met with a warm welcome and told to sit anywhere. We were attended to immediately. The food was excellent, fries crispy, batter on fish light and crisp, fish tasty and good tartar sauce. Attentive and friendly service. Will return again

2025-02-22 husband and I decided to check this place out because we were in inver grove heights and I love broasted chicken. Chicken tasted fresh and juicy. Scalloped potatoes were not my favorite but the has browns my husband had were good. Was a good stop, definitely want to go back to try the hamburgers.

Stopped on the way to a cabin, so glad we did! Cute interior, recently refurbished. The burgers and fish sandwich were really great, and the fries (both regular and sweet potato) were hot and delish.

This is a gem. Definitely stop in there. It was very crowded. We happily sat at the bar due to a wait list. The bartender was very friendly and happy to serve us. We ordered a fish sandwich and a chicken sandwich. The fish sandwich was perfectly deep fried and the chicken sandwich was broasted. Both came with complimentary pickles and lettuce. The chicken was a real chicken breast. Not some type of pressed meat and who knows what else. I’ve eaten many chicken sandwiches and THIS is what they are supposed to taste like. I recently gave a review of another chicken sandwich that was flat, greasy, burned and pressed meat. The owner basically replied negatively back to me. This is why we trust Google reviews because we are honest about the dining experience that we had. House of Coates is fantastic and that’s why it was packed. 5* all around. And it certainly doesn’t hurt that we won $100 on pull tabs.

Simply put, I was served the wrong food. I can’t rate an establishment 5 stars when I’m served the wrong food. I ordered a top of the line Swanee Burger that put the House of Coates on the map with bacon, fried onions, and american cheese. What I got was a Mushroom and Swiss. Everything else went the way it should. No service fee here.
