We made an 8:30 PM reservation for hibachi on Valentine’s night, but unfortunately weren’t seated until 9:15 PM, and our chef didn’t start cooking until around 10 PM. We completely understand that holidays are busy, but the wait time was definitely longer than expected.
As for the food — the hibachi for the three of us was a bit disappointing and lacked flavor. It just wasn’t as seasoned or as exciting as we hoped it would be.
That being said, the sushi was absolutely delicious. We ordered the Miami Roll and added jalapeño (highly recommend!), along with yellowtail pieces — and let me tell you, they were incredible. The sushi honestly made us wish we had skipped hibachi and ordered more rolls instead. I would love to see a few more roll options on the menu, though.
The owner and staff were very kind and accommodating, which we truly appreciated — especially on such a busy night. Because of that, we would definitely be willing to give them another try on a non-holiday evening to see if the hibachi experience is better when it’s not so hectic.
Overall: amazing sushi, friendly service, but hibachi fell short this visit. We’re hopeful it was just an off night. Here’s a cool picture I took.

My husband and I have been driving to Shiki’s on Reno for ten years from Tulsa. Tonight unfortunately was our last time. After terrible service, the General Manager Boo (or Bu), completely disregarded us as patrons. We waited for over 20 minutes before the waitress came back after bringing us our beverages. We would have completely understood if she was busy, but at least would have stayed in communication with us. Tonight was my husband’s birthday, but after taking our order, the waitress never came back to check on us until it was time to give us our check. We sat at the hibachi table and ordered 8 rolls of sushi. This is our typical order, and normally the waitstaff is always on point, and our very generous tips reflect that. Our young daughters were very disappointed that nobody sang Happy Birthday to their father, or that they had the opportunity to tell anyone. For ten years we have made the trip to OKC. We have talked to Boo every time we were in and if he was there, we always praised his staff to him and reiterated this is why we always come the two hour drive one way to visit. My husband and I have talked to Boo about his wife and children, vehicles, and he has always been friendly. Obviously we don’t come weekly, but we have come every few months at the least. Tonight, Boo asked if we wanted a discount just to shut us up. We weren’t looking for a discount, just some evidence that he appreciated our loyalty for ten years, but we could not have been more wrong. He stated that every time we come in, we complain, which could not have been any further from the truth. Tonight was the very first time we have ever uttered a negative word to him. In fact, we tell everyone that if they want good sushi, to go see Boo at Shiki’s in OKC. He absolutely used that as a scapegoat to gaslight me. I stated I wasn’t looking for a discount, then he responded “well what do you want then? If you don’t like our service, you don’t have to come back.” You are absolutely correct, Mr. Boo. This was more than just a restaurant to us. It has been a special place in our heart from before our two youngest girls were born. Do I feel entitled that he owes us something? Absolutely not. But for a general manager to talk to anyone in such low regard, and make them feel so completely unwelcome, is not only unnecessary, but showed me his true colors. He blatantly lied to my face about my husband and I. Clearly we are not welcome or appreciated, and that’s fine. Thank you for the last ten years. We will not bother you with our money ever again.

I have been going to Shiki for years and just never reviewed them. One of the best hibachi places I have visited. Their Miso soup is so good. Instead of the white soup base, it’s clear (as pictured) and I always decline the salad and get a second soup. They are usually pretty consistent when it comes to cooking regardless of the chef, which is a great thing. Unless something drastically changed, I will continue to support their business every chance I get.

Came here with my family of 7. I made a reservation for dinner and though it wasn’t super busy that evening, I wouldn’t have known without going in first. It’s important to note that there is a sign that states they won’t seat until every member of your party is there.

We did the hibachi grill and enjoyed our time. Chef was great and waitress was attentive. A couple of my family members ordered sushi as well and liked it all. I ordered the chicken hibachi and while I thought it was a little dry, it was still delicious. The soup was also good, though I don’t think it’s miso soup, but just clear soup. The dressing on the salad was good but the salad could use more ingredients besides just some plain lettuce and one slice each of cucumber and tomato.

I don’t recall other hibachi places upcharging for fried rice (+$2.50), but maybe that is simply built into the price. I like that we also received grilled shrimp with our meal, and they’re good pieces of shrimp too, not anything small.

Overall, my family enjoyed their time here and would return again.

Is so much fun! The food was wonderful and freshly cooked in front of us, the chef was delightfully funny and very talented!! I highly recommend this establishment. All of the service was outstanding, it’s more than just dinner, it is an experience.

3.7 stars. With the wintry weather mix, most restaurants were closed. My co-worker spotted this place so we stopped in to get dinner. Simple, unassuming but clean, we were quickly greeted and seated.

He got the Steak and Chicken while I went with the Steak and Calamari. Each entree came with soup and salad as well as a 3-piece shrimp appetizer. The chef did a good job on the hibachi grill and whipped up our meals in no time at all. Portions were hearty and quality quite good. All-in for dinner and tip ran us right at $80.

We had a surprise birthday party of about 20 and we’re in a separate room which was great. The service was good and entertainment was awesome. The fried rice was delicious but the steak which I requested …med rare was WAY overcooked…it was well done and absolutely NO flavor. More restaurants like this closer to home…Will not return.

Unfortunate and complete disappointment. We chose to sit at the dust covered sushi bar we realized and attempted to order, they didn’t have 6 of the things I ordered, not 1 or 2, but 6! I asked as i do when I sit down at every sushi bar, if they had anything not on the menu or special and the older woma, in the plum blouse, behind the sushi bar snickered at me repeating “special” while condescendingly chuckling as if I made a joke. The food experience itself was awful when it came to what they DID have. Poor fish cutting along with a sashimi salmon that was obviously old and near inedible. The service was the only good thing about the place. Can’t and won’t speak to the hibachi or teppen they offer as I won’t be back. Do not recommend. Paid $100 and left 60% of the food on the table.

Very amazing atmosphere, and the food and service topped it off. I arrived right as they opened and ordered 2 California rolls. I was greeted with an open door and smiles and had my food out almost immediately, and it was insanely good. If you’re looking for a quick and affordable place to go, this is the place for you.
Will be back another time! -James
