I honestly do not understand why it is so difficult for restaurants to serve good food. Customers are not being served for free, we pay good money with the expectation of quality. So why is it such a challenge to meet the basic responsibility of a restaurant serving well prepared, good quality food?
Look at this dish. It is supposed to be mutton dum biryani. Does it look like biryani? No. Does it taste like biryani? Absolutely not. Was it the customer’s mistake to order this dish? Also no.
This biryani was ordered from Chowrastha, a well known and popular restaurant chain in the USA. Customers place their trust in a reputed brand like this, expecting authentic flavor and proper preparation so they can enjoy and cherish their meal. Instead, what was served was a 2 inch layer of plain rice with mutton pieces sauteed in oil.
I genuinely ask – why?

If you’re looking for some delicious dosa and other Indian food, this is the place to be.
We tried their food for thr first time in Dallas, TX and instantly become a fan of their Onion samosa, Chai and dosa.
This is their newest location in Atlanta area and during our last visit we had ordered Gurugaram Dosa, Benne dosa, Onions samosa, Veg Manchurian and Mango faluda. Everything was super delicious. We have been to this location two times so far and very impressed with the quality of food and service. The staff was very professional and friendly.
I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for delicious Indian cuisine.

I tried the Irani chai and it was really good. The bonda was also tasty. I ordered the goat pulao and the goat dum biryani, but it was disappointing that they don’t offer mild or medium spice levels only spicy. It would be great to have more spice options for people who prefer less heat.

We were really excited to try the Mandi and enjoy the full experience, but honestly, it was a bit disappointing. The food was okay, but the service really let us down. We ordered two Mandis, and they were served in take-out — which completely killed the dine-in vibe. We lost interest and ended up opening only one. We came hoping for the traditional Mandi experience, not to feel like we were eating takeout at the table. The food deserves better presentation and service to match. We hope the management takes care of this immediately, as it really affects the overall dining experience.

We recently visited Chowrastha Restaurant and ordered dosa, a chicken combo, and chicken biryani. The combo came with rice, chicken curry, rasmalai, and paratha. unfortunately, the paratha was uncooked and tasted quite bad. Most of the other food items were just average, except for the chicken biryani, which was fresh and flavorful.
Service, however, was slow and unorganized, which made the overall experience disappointing. I’d rate the restaurant 2 out of 5, primarily for the biryani.

Ordered yesterday to-go food from Chowrastha – Indian Eatery and found what looks like someone’s TOOTH inside the food.
This is beyond disgusting. Even with takeout, there is no excuse for something like this ending up in a customer’s meal. It shows a complete lack of hygiene and quality control in the kitchen.
I was shocked, lost my appetite immediately, and threw the food away.
Never going back.
I would strongly warn others to think twice before ordering from here.

Extremely disturbing experience. I personally witnessed food being mixed in a bowl placed directly on the KITCHEN FLOOR This is a serious and unacceptable sanitation violation—no commercial kitchen should ever prepare food on the floor.
While the food tasted okay, this completely destroyed my trust in the restaurant’s hygiene standards. After seeing this, the 88 health inspection score makes perfect sense. Anything below 95 is concerning. This level of cleanliness is not acceptable, and customers deserve much better.
