This evening I ordered the 12oz prime rib and it was huge – and fantastic at that. I highly recommend the Little Italy too – a great way to try a few different things on the menu. Service is always great and friendly. Highly recommend Katie or Alexis as waitresses! They are both fantastic. We love making it a habit to come here when we want to eat out on Friday nights! I also recommend the Italian sausage stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer. They were fantastic.
I kept it simple by ordering the famous salad and the full order of spaghetti and meatballs and I took advantage of the warm bread and butter.
Both things to my mind are prime examples of what the restaurant hopes to show to the public.
The warm bread and butter were delicious, but I held back some of it to eat with my spaghetti… It’s a broke kid habit from back in the day.
The server was efficient, kind and quite pleasant. The very first thing that came out was the salad and to be Frank, were it not for the tomatoes? I would have sent it back. It had been dressed too long, and the dressing was both acid and garlic forward to such a degree that I could not finish it. Despite that I watched several tables box up their salad and take it home.
It must be popular and i’m sure folks love it, but to me, it was hard to take. If there were other things in it, such as croutons or black olives, perhaps some antipasti, it would have been more appetizing to me.
I don’t think that it is low quality, it’s simply was not to my taste.
The spaghetti meatballs arrived and a full order is about a cup and a half of pasta with plenty of sauce and two meatballs. The dish overall was good, the meatballs were very tasty, had a soft and fine texture and complimented the pasta very well. The sauce was bright and tomato focused but lacked salt, which was on the table, so no problem there.
I ate the entire entree and I do not regret it. This isn’t the kind of Italian place that feeds you until you pop, which i’m fine with because the quality is present.
It’s been around since 1939, so they’re clearly doing something right, but if you have to talk to anybody after you eat, or you want to go kissin on your sweetie after dinner, either share the salad or avoid it altogether.
I had the Delmonico steak with horseradish and gorgonzola crust. Oh my goodness it was delicious!
I love the soft warm bread and real butter.
My friend and I tried all the desserts because it was both of our birthdays. We loved them all!
