So. Was visiting St. Charles for my school and stopped here. They had a special going on. The serving size was great. Loved the food and the atmosphere and the owner is fun to talk too. If I ever come back this way again. Going to definitely go back.

We arrived With reservations to celebrate a birthday. There were four of us and we were seated at a table that only had two place settings. I thought that was a little odd because the service is usually much better. After about a 10 minute wait the additional place settings were set and we got some water from the busboy. About 10 minutes later, our waitress arrived to see what we wanted to drink. So from the beginning, it was a challenging start Everything seemed to go fairly well till our birthday boy ordered his steak, medium well, and it came out very rare. We sent it back asking for just a few more moments on the grill and it came back burnt. We nicely mentioned it to the waitress and she said it looked fine to her. It was obviously burnt. We very nicely disagreed with her as she got very defensive saying we were scolding her and she could have the chef come out. I said that would be fine. Have the chef come out. She then advised me that I don’t really want the chef to come out cause it won’t go well. She then advised me that the chef is the owner’s brother. She also advised me that the chef had placed the stake under a broiler. When you’re paying almost $70 for a steak and you asked for it to be medium, you certainly don’t expect it to be well done and burned and it really doesn’t matter how they cooked it whether it was under a broiler on a grill or a skillet, you don’t expect it to be burned and when you complain about it nicely, you don’t expect to be treated so unprofessional. You don’t expect to be told that I don’t want the chef to come out like it’s some kind of threat to me. Very bad experience definitely not going back. It’s a shame because Tommy the owner and his family did such a good job with Ki”s. Saint Charles Place has been a favorite of ours for a long time. We are not going to go back after being treated so poorly.

Celebrated my parents’ 65 year wedding anniversary here and we couldn’t have had a better experience if we’d tried. Ambiance is top notch. Every detail is just amazing. Wonderful drinks, service (thanks Tiffany) and appetizers. I have to stop there (except for desert) as that’s as far as we made it! Next time we will start with entrees. Just so many delectable appetizers we couldn’t choose just one, so that was our 1st foray into their offerings and everything was top notch. From the escargot to the seafood tower and duck liver pate’ to lobster bisque, perfection! They gifted my parents with bignets to die for (with chocolate sauce on the side) and we shared tiramasu between us and it too was delicious. Drinks were on special as it was, surprise, $10 martini night, so we indulged in extra-dirty to lemon drops and they were made to order, extra dirty was spot on lemon drops with and without sugar rims, very tasty! We already have birthday celebration reservations in October. I think we found our family favorite!

St. Charles Place Steakhouse offers a classic dining atmosphere with vintage décor and dim lighting that creates a cozy, old-school vibe. The menu features traditional steakhouse options, including various cuts of beef, seafood, and sides. Service is attentive but can vary depending on the time of visit. Prices are on the higher side, reflecting the restaurant’s focus on presentation and ambiance. Overall, it’s a solid choice for a formal meal or a quiet dinner, without any standout surprises.

It was my Valentines/Birthday celebration and first time at this restaurant. The interior is very cool and eclectic. We were one of the first to arrive for the 5:00 seating. The dining room in the bar area was wide open and me and my girlfriend were sat at the center table right in front of a packed bar. With so many tables open we asked to be moved away from the bar and we were told “NO” by the front hostess. I’ve worked in restaurants and bars my whole life and this was not the way to handle our request. Nevertheless we stayed and tried to ignore all of the activity at the bar including people leaning against the chairs at our table which was just really annoying. The French onion soup was delicious! Our shared steak dinner seemed more like elevated wedding food. The double baked potato seemed like it had been sitting around for awhile and the medium rare steak had good flavor but seemed dry. Our waiter was outstanding and a complete professional. I wanted to love this place but sadly it just didn’t hit the mark.

Ate on a busy Saturday night. The waitress was overwhelmed with the amount of tables. She was very friendly but the service was lacking. Now for our meals, food was barely warm, mine was closer to cold. I do not enjoy paying premium dollars and not served hot food. We did tell her, she apologized, but that was it. Our first visit, probably our last. On the plus side, it is a beautiful place. Great atmosphere.

Ordered their “famous” steak burger as everything else on the menu was ridiculously priced ($36.00 for a plate of spaghetti and meatballs – are you kidding me?). Ordered it well done but it was burnt, and for the price ($21.00) was at best average-sized. The fries were average, and the overall quantity for the price was well below average. The best part of the meal was the desserts – the New York cheesecake was well worth the price. Also the drinks were very good. The service was average at best. Overall I’d have to say I was disappointed, did not meet my expectations.

Food was overpriced for what it was. Two tiny crab cakes (on the menu it says JUMBO) A squirt of mashed potatoes (those were pretty good) and four skinny asparagus spears for $52. I have spent slightly more at steakhouses and had food that was twice as good. My husband has a couple of drinks and I had one drink (none of the drinks were good) service was slow and inattentive. If there are four people sitting at a table and you know your bread basket only has 3 rolls why would you not bring them 2 breadbaskets so that everyone has a roll. The chocolate mousse was very good. Our server was very nice. The atmosphere and decor was beautiful.
