Fish was fresh with good texture, sauces were nice, not too heavy, flavors went together well. Rolls are generous. The two I ordered (Love and Seaside) were a little too much for one person. So tasty I finished them anyway. Service was attentive and pleasant, not pushy.

One of my favorite Sushi stops. Amazing food and staff.
Pictured are a Crunchy Philly, Their Lion King Roll, and a Rainbow Roll.
All 3 were exceptional.

Best sushi in Astoria. We liked it and look forward to coming back!

Good range and quality of rolls and Japanese dishes, though not so much sushi and sashimi in lovely downtown Astoria. Generous portions. Service was friendly but a little bit slow considering that the restaurant was not packed for lunch. The bento boxes we had were very good.

Tora Sushi in Astoria was so good when we stopped in for lunch on our way north that we had stop again on our way home. Even if it was just for the Green Muscles (baked with imitation crab and mayo with sweet sauce, onions and masago). I don’t know what the “sweet sauce” is, but I imagine it’s something with Yuzu. Somewhere between lemon and orange. Delightful. Likely our new coast trip indulgence.
The Astoria Roll (pictured, Spicy imitation crab, tempura shrimp
and avocado. Topped with seared
cajun salmon, green onions and
wasabi dressing) was also very nice. I don’t know what cajun flavors have to do with Astoria, but it—with the wasabi dressing—was a fun, toasty flavor profile.
Love the wide variety of vegan options, wish there were more virgins cocktails than just the margaritas.
Only 4 stars for atmosphere, because on our first visit the music volume kept changing, sometimes becoming uncomfortably loud despite myself and my partner being two of maybe six patrons. Didn’t have this problem on our second visit! Great time.

My experience at this place was so disappointing that I’m honestly surprised it’s still operating with this level of service. The staff showed an attitude that was arrogant, careless, and completely unprofessional. There was no effort to provide decent customer service; if anything, it felt like serving customers was an inconvenience to them.
What bothered me the most was how they treated a DoorDash driver. The way they ignored him, the disrespect, and the obvious attitude of superiority were embarrassing to watch. If that’s how they treat someone who’s just doing their job, it’s clear this isn’t a “bad day” — it’s a pattern.
Even though we speak the same language, the attitude toward me was just as unpleasant: looks, unnecessary comments, and a general vibe that made it clear they had no interest in treating customers with basic respect. This wasn’t an isolated incident; it was consistent behavior.
After what I saw and experienced, I won’t be coming back. And honestly, if anyone asks me about this place, the only thing I can say is that there are far better options where you’re treated like a human being.

Very good udon – my daughter had the tempura udon and my husband had the hangover cure which was made extra spicy to his request. He was impressed by the fact that they indeed made it very spicy as many restaurants usually miss the mark for him. Both were not overly salty and flavorful. We also had the calamari which was battered and deep fried perfectly – not over cooked and was a soft texture…only thing is I wish it had slight more seasoning/saltiness but it was good nonetheless. I also had the fire crunch roll which had tempura shrimp, imitation crab, cucumber in the middle and topped with seared ahi tuna and 3 different sauces – it was spicy and delicious. Overall great experience.

Greaaaat tasting food! Wonderful service, and very comfortable. Tora Sushi is next to the Hotel Elliot, and across the street from the Liberty Theater, in the heart of downtown Astoria. We’re definitely coming back for more of its yummy goodness. I especially loved the noodles.

The place was busier than usual, as the local people waiting said. It took us a bit to have a seat and for someone to get our order. Fresh fish, delicious roll combinations, very creative and it was tasty. Gluten Free: part of the menu dedicated and also Tamari sauce is available.
