Crumbs has a huge menu and I always approach with caution places that have hundreds of dishes- there is usually not much special about any one dish. With that many offerings, there isn’t a lot of thought regarding taste, seasoning and herbs- usually no depth to the food.
And my caution was spot on.
I ordered French Toast combo with one fried egg and turkey bacon. I also had a side of banana foster. Nothing special about the french toast and the banana foster was definitely not cooked well. The bananas were still quite firm- tasted like cut banana swirled in caramel sauce. They cooked my over hard egg perfectly, but it had a weird taste that I couldn’t identify, so I couldn’t finish it. I asked for the bacon to be cooked crispy and sent it back- they sent it back so hard, it really couldn’t be enjoyed. I cook turkey bacon often so I know it can be crispy and be soft enough to still eat.
My spouse ordered pancake combo with bacon and scrambled eggs. Again nothing special and because their eggs are pre mixed, you just get a pile of them. The pancakes were ok- very thick, but nothing special.
We also ordered a side of hash brown- no seasoning, no onions or bell peppers- just a decently cooked mound of shredded potatoes.
We were going to order bottomless margaritas, but were advised that they get shipments on Tuesdays and therefore, they didn’t have Tequila. Bummer- if you’re offering bottomless something- it definitely shouldn’t be an item you’re waiting on- it should be there in abundance.
Instead we made our own beermosa.
I really liked their menu on the IPad. Customer service was great- but the food missed the mark for me. It was almost like it was all dressed up with nowhere to go. I think restaurant should think in terms of menus- less is more. And focus on making really tasty, special dishes…not a plethora of dishes that are just, well- food.
We’ll certainly be coming back!
Thank You kindly
Crumbs – Pleasant Hill
Stopped by Crumbs in Pleasant Hill today and had an excellent experience from start to finish. The food was fresh, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious.
The savory plate was hearty and satisfying — perfectly cooked eggs, great flavor throughout, and the avocado was fresh and generously portioned. Everything tasted made-to-order and thoughtfully prepared. On the sweet side, the purple pancakes were not only stunning but incredibly flavorful, with fresh fruit and toppings that balanced sweetness perfectly without being overwhelming.
To top it all off, the layered ube drink was smooth, creamy, and refreshing — easily a standout and something I’d come back for on its own.
Service was friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. You can tell they care about both quality and presentation here.
Highly recommend Crumbs if you’re looking for a great brunch spot in Pleasant Hill. I’ll definitely be back.
The mango lemonade was very sweet and had salt on the rim, which I didn’t expect—I’d rate it a 4/10.
The chicken fried steak was a 7/10, and the steak breakfast was also a 7/10.
The caramel latte was a little too sweet for my taste, so I’d give it a 6/10.
There is a reason why it’s always busy (be prepared to wait for a table), because the food and service are so good, that’s it’s worth the wait!
I love Denver Omelettes, eat them at every restaurant we frequent. But Crumb’s Denver Omelettes are by far the best, hands down. They are thick, the ham chunks are lean but thick cut, the veggies are large and plentiful but perfectly cooked as well. Not too raw, not overcooked.
The only problem I have is that it is so good, I have a hard time ordering it anywhere else because they set the bar so high!
I love everything about this place!
