My recent Five Guys experience…

My son ordered me a double bacon cheeseburger.
A masterpiece.
A symphony of “treat yourself.”
Bacon, cheese, ketchup, mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions —
the holy lineup.

But when I got home and opened that foil,
the universe said,
“Surprise!”

Because inside that wrapper
was a double cheeseburger
absolutely drowning in
extra pickles, extra grilled mushrooms, and extra mustard, with some tomatoes thrown in for humor.

No bacon.
None.
Not a whisper.
Not a shadow.
Just mustard and mushrooms holding hands like they’re proud to ruin my evening.

I looked at that burger the way you look at a text message from someone you’re about to block.

So I call the restaurant —
because I’m still a good person
with hope in my heart.
And they put me on hold.

For thirty minutes.

Thirty.
As in,
I could’ve watched an entire sitcom
and its commercials before they even considered picking up.

Spoiler alert: they did not pick up.
I hung up somewhere shortly after minute 29, when my will to live slipped out the door.

So I take it online.
I type the whole saga into their complaint form like I’m filing a police report.

And customer service emails me back,
all polite and shiny, saying:
“We’re very sorry for the inconvenience.
We’d like to make this right.”

And I’m thinking,
“Well damn — look at Five Guys being all professional. Maybe they’re about to bless me.”

Then the gift card arrives.

Ten.
Dollars.

Ten dollars at Five Guys —
a place where fries alone cost more than my emotional stability.

What am I supposed to do with ten dollars?
Buy half a burger?
A bun and… hope?
Maybe a single slice of bacon if the wind is blowing right?

It won’t even cover the messed-up burger
they already gave me.
It’s like handing someone a Band-Aid
after running their foot over with a bike.

So thank you, Five Guys,
for this generous, thoughtful, budget-friendly apology.
This $10 gesture of
“we hear you,
but not that much.”

Next time,
keep the card.
Just give me the damn bacon
and leave the mustard mushrooms
to whatever poor soul ordered them intentionally.

I love five guys, I go to many different ones. This one is the closest to me. Some days the customer service is wonderful but today it sucked. The guy on the register did not greet me as well as I ordered a little bacon cheese burger said it twice and he still never changed it. Not happy with the service today. Also what’s up with the new bag of fries? Not feeling it. I ordered a regular size fry and got a small. All around not happy with the store service and food today. Last thing I ordered grilled jalapeños on my my burger and got regular. Please do better. I’m just all around unhappy with the service amd meal.

I visited this location on 12/1/25.

I LOVE Five Guys and have visited many locations. I appreciate the cleanliness, excellent customer service and efficiency.

Today, while ordering at the Mayfield Heights location, I observed a teammate adjusting his apron strap around his neck wearing gloves and then continue preparing food without changing his gloves.

I politely & discreetly asked the cashier, if he’d ask his teammate to change his gloves , due to him touching his apron. The cashier asked the teammate to change his gloves and when the young man asked the cashier who reported the observation, the cashier pointed at me and the young man stared at me for an extended amount of time. He then told another customer nearby
“ she’s mad at me because I touched my apron… I’m going to do it again..”

As I continued to wait for my order, the young man turned around facing me and continued to stare at me with an upset expression for an extended amount of time.

When he completed my order, I walked up to collect the bag and told him thank you, and expressed that I didn’t mean any harm and informed him that I also work in food service. He began to respond to me and I walked out.

Working in the food service industry can be very rewarding and challenging at times. However, when a guest discreetly and politely shares a concern, staff should always respond in a respectful manner. The staff did not display professionalism or etiquette by pointing the customer out and responding inappropriately , as it caused unnecessary frustration, embarrassment and a very unpleasant and uncomfortable experience .

Staff at this location would benefit from food handling education & customer service training.

This review is not breaking any new ground. A cheeseburger is $10.89, which is fair for the quality, customization and taste for fast casual. A “little fry” was $5.09 and not a good value. See the pic below – what happened to the bag full of fries? The atmosphere is plain and nothing special. The service was a bit slow. So, as many have said before a burger, fries, and a drink bring you to about $20 per person… better options exist.

The guys that work here all seem to have a good flow together and Dominic is really amazing, efficient and friendly and knows what he’s doing he’s the glue that keeps it all together! but I do appreciate all the guys that were there a few times that I’ve been in. Good vibe all around!

The staff here is an Amazing. The 3 dudes in the kitchen were crushing it and super nice. Give them dudes a raise. This was like 10 min before close, too, on 10/17/2025

Pros: Best hamburgers hands down! Cajun fries, perfect! Cons: The Five Guys app wasn’t working for this restaurant. The Uber eats app was working but said this restaurant wasn’t taking pick up orders. The restaurant staff were nice but not the usual engagement. The store was messy. Cup lids, paper, and peanut shells everywhere (the floor, the counter, tables, etc.)

We ended up sick after this meal. I’m not sure what happened but didn’t eat afterward for 24 hours, and we were fine before. I know it wasn’t anything else because of how our day went. Five guys is expensive, so we were very disappointed when we had to call out of work

I have been to this very wonderful fab burger place several times, and the service here is nothing less than awesome. I know that because everything here is labeled very nicely. All the tables and chairs are clean, and the good news about this fab place is that there is a menu above so that you can decide what very wonderful food and drink you want. The second good news about this is that there’s milkshakes. I always come to this very excellent place for a plain hamburger, milkshake and fries and no matter what, they all taste spectacular every time. Last Sunday (4/27), when I came here for lunch around 2:45pm, it was very spectacular. I had a plain hamburger, fries, and milkshake. Fries were delicious. The hamburger was delicious, and with regards to the milkshake, it was absolutely superb. And whenever I want a different drink, like if I were to have Hi-C fruit punch, they have a wonderful clean drink machine so that you can choose your drink. Bottom line is that this place is filled with absolute generous service here. Staff wastes zero time at all prepping our food and wastes no time calling our table number. It is very awesome when the table number is called so that we know our order is ready. Many thanks to the staff and their non-stop professionalism to make and cook this beautiful meal. And many thanks to their non-stop gracious quality service.

The service at Five Guys was excellent. We visited around 4:00 pm and no one else was in line. Our server was pleasant and helpful and our order was ready quickly. I think the only criticism I have is that the food is very expensive. We had 2 cheeseburgers, one large fries, and 2 small drinks which cost $35.00. The food was good, but I think overpriced.
