I’m not sure if serving a sizzling hot steak on a plate hot enough to prevent adjusting with bare fingers is a good idea – initially my steak was absolutely perfectly medium rare, but by the end of the meal it was virtually medium. Still tasty, still melt-in-your-mouth, just more cooked than I like. (Maybe I was talking too much…) Our server Andrew was a gem – it takes a certain amount of confidence to address women practically old enough to be his grandma as “now, my dear, what would you like this evening?” He was had the bread pudding. Both excellent, both not too sweet. A very enjoyable experience.

I was excited to celebrate my 38th birthday at Ruth’s Chris in downtown Greenville, but what should have been a joyful night turned into one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve ever had.

My husband and I arrived around 6:15 PM, ordered simple entrées—stuffed chicken, salmon, and salads—and yet, we didn’t receive our food until after 7:29 PM. During that entire time, we watched table after table—each arriving well after us—be served their meals, greeted by staff, and even celebrated for special occasions. A gentleman in a blue blazer personally wished a nearby guest a happy birthday, yet walked past our table where birthday confetti clearly marked the celebration.

No one came to check on us or explain the delay until we asked, and even then, the response felt dismissive. Despite the clear disparity in service, not a single manager approached our table to apologize or acknowledge the situation. We paid our $170+ bill and left quietly, but deeply disappointed.

This wasn’t just about slow service—it was about being made to feel unseen and unwelcome in a space where we had every right to celebrate like anyone else. I believe in supporting businesses that value all guests equally, and unfortunately, this experience made it clear that this establishment does not.

I share this review not out of anger, but out of hope that Ruth’s Chris Greenville will reflect on how such treatment affects its guests and take steps to ensure no one else feels the same.

The food was delicious, although my mash potatoes was like warm. The service was excellent but it was to dark for me, the lighting was really not on point I like to see my food when I’m eating.

The entire meal was spectacular! The filet mignon was heavenly.
Service with our waiter, David Nabors, was exquisite. We would request him on our next visit, if possible. Since we were celebrating our 50 year wedding anniversary, we were so pleased to get seating at the windows overlooking the river. Just an all around perfect evening. Can’t wait to return!

Although seafood tower was ordered at 2:30, we got the melting butter, and 55 minutes later it showed up. Talk about MAJOR delay. You’d think they were going to the ocean to get them.

The Lobster was tough. They served the lobster knuckle which we couldn’t open. The crab was good and shrimp were OK too. Not worth an hour wait.

We had Filet mignon and garlic roasted sea bass which were ok.
The steak was over cooked on one end and done perfectly on the other end. The creamed spinach were good.

We’ve been to a few Ruth Chris in New York, New Jersey and Cherokee, North Carolina and California and I swear I always get the fish and it never tastes like this fish did or served on such a small plate. I know it’s the holidays and they may be shorted a dishwasher but serve on normal size plates, please.

So we overheard there was a fight in the kitchen and apparently the chefs were throwing dishes at each other hence the small dinner plate.

We got lucky to get the last window table.

All in all, we hit the restaurant on an off day. We will not order the fish again or go on Christmas.

Thier reasons I never ate out on major holidays and now remember why. Thanksgiving, seated at a very tiny 2 top, can’t hold 2 entries, 2 sides and drinks. Not my atmosphere for a $220 dinner. Mushrooms, seafood gumbo and pork chop were good. Thanksgiving plate was OK. Nothing special and not served very warm at all. When everyone leaves with doggie bags, restaurant may be more interested in quantity than quality. Still have credit on gift card, will use for drinks and onion rings.

Due to family emergency, we wasn’t able to celebrate Valentine’s Day until today. Caitlin was it a special occasion and we explained the situation to her. She came back a few minutes later, and she had got us some Valentines confetti. It was very thoughtful, and we appreciated the effort she put into making our dinner special. Her service was wonderful. We loved her attitude and energy, and she also included slices of cheesecake to go to make the evening more special. We are super grateful for her. We made sure to let the manager Jordan know how much we enjoyed her service.

For a $93 meal I expected my steak to be cooked to absolute perfection the first time. By their third attempt, it was cooked to medium as requested.

My filet was given to me as “blue”, which isn’t even close to medium, TWICE, which was followed by the manager talking to me on the third attempt. They then comped a couple things for the trouble, but at that point it was an hour before I was even able to eat after placing my order. All in all, not worth the cost or trouble. Even Texas Roadhouse can cook a medium steak the first try.
