Came here to do a bit of party planning with my mom and sisters and was blown away by the service, food, and atmosphere. One of my sisters came here before and recommended it and I am so glad we took her recommendation. Our drinks were so unique and delicious, our server was sooo attentive and always seemed to be there when we needed something. She was amazing. And the food. My goodness. So flavorful. The drinks. Uniquely delicious. Definitely recommend coming here for their brunch.

I’m really disappointed to have to change my review from 5 stars to 3. I had an allergic reaction due to cross contamination in a salad I order from Uber Eats (I did disclose my allergy in the notes and a stray piece of cheese ended up sending me to the hospital). This is to be expected sometimes with a severe allergy and accidents happen, but when I called to tell the manager notifying them that there was an incident I left several voicemails and they did not ever return my call. They have previously been wonderful about my dairy allergy and I considered Public House one of my ‘safe’ restaurants and would always recommend it to friends with dietary restrictions. However, their lack of responsiveness with constructive feedback about their cross-contamination protocol will ensure I won’t be recommending it to folks with allergies again.

Previous review:
Amazing dining experience! I would definitely recommend the garden seating for a more botanical atmosphere. Friendly and helpful staff. They were wonderful and knowledgeable about my food allergy. Bonus for vegans/vegetarians, they prepare the vegan fare in a whole separate kitchen.

I was invited to Public House for a birthday brunch on a Sunday with no particular expectations. Arriving with an empty stomach and an open mind, we missed our reservation time due to a miscommunication by the birthday girl. Despite this, Public House managed to seat us promptly. We decided to start by sharing a large mimosa, presented uniquely on a slanted display in a single flavor. This helped distract us from the somewhat slow service. Once we were finally able to order, we selected a variety of dishes from the brunch menu. Although the monkey bread was initially forgotten, it turned out to be a highlight, along with the savory pastrami hash I ordered. Unfortunately, the birthday girl received a burnt chicken dish, but the server quickly resolved the issue by providing a replacement to go. Despite the hiccups, the complimentary parking on Sundays and the desire to visit during a less busy time make me consider returning to Public House.

Stopped in for brunch this morning. One of my favorite brunch’s I’ve had in a while! Our server took about 15-20 minutes to get to our table after being seated and was pretty normal, nothing special. Dropped the food items, didn’t check in, not very attentive, etc. So service wasn’t great, but everything else, BOMB. The atmosphere in the garden is stunning, tons of greenery and modern lighting, just gorgeous. Our coffee’s came with cream and brown sugar on the side and was great coffee, from coffeehaus! And the food was amazing, I stole a bite of one of my guests bacon from her salad. No exaggeration, probably some of the best bacon I’ve ever had. My avocado toast had honeycomb and I asked for a sunny side up egg, two came on the side. One of the best avo toasts, if not the best I’ve ever had. Absolutely delicious, I could eat it every morning. My guests also loved their salad and french toast, only great things to say. I definitely intend to come back!

Love the decor on the patio! Food and service was really good, we will be back. We had the pretzel croissant, Nashville chicken sandwich, beet salad with crispy seitan and the cauliflower appetizer. The only one we didn’t like was the cauliflower… it had some cinnamon seasoning that just wasn’t our thing.

We sat “outside”, it was pretty cold but it’s beautiful out here. I just wish it was a bit more warmth on the patio. It’s not that much space on the inside but, If you like cozy indoor seating arrangements It’s pretty nice. The food was bomb, so bomb I forgot to even take photos of some of it. The portion sizes were excellent. I’ll definitely be back again.

I made a reservation for the garden room to have a quiet dinner with a friend after a long 2.5 hour drive, but was sat in the main dining which was extremely loud. I felt like I had to yell just to have a conversation. All of the seats were super close which gave the feeling of no privacy since everyone was sat 2 feet apart, however I couldn’t hear anything since again, it was SO loud. My waitress was phenomenal: attentive, sweet, and thoughtful. Unfortunately, since she was not 21, she did not have any personal recommendations on the cocktails, but she was more than willing to follow-up with the bartender on two different questions. I wasn’t particularly fond of either of my cocktails (Blossom and Ariel), but my friend did enjoy one of hers (had Ariel and liked Bartender’s Special ). Thankfully, our food was delicious. We ordered sliders, mac & cheese, deviled eggs, garlic parmesan wings, and carne asada fries. I gave 2 stars for the food and service. I removed 3 stars for the cocktails, excessively loud music, and the lack of communication regarding updating my reservation from the garden area to main dining without warning during check-in which ruined my dinner with my friend since it was hard to catch up when we had a hard time hearing each other. The vibe itself was fun, cute, and trendy (just too loud to be enjoyable – specifically in the main dining area).

My first visit with the new menu, it’s a bit different but it was time for a change anyway.

I’d look at their menu as larger plate tapas dining. Everything they make is exceptionally well prepared with fresh ingredients. The portions seem to be shareable size and priced accordingly.

They have forgotten the slider fad and gone with full size juicy hamburgers. A half pound burger you customize, it’s very good. (Sliders have since been added to the menu)

Many of their items, like their sauces are House made including their homemade cured bacon. Its all delicious!

The brussel sprouts we’re spot on and crispy. I’ve never seen a pretzel croissant before and it was very good. Their craft cocktails are very similar to the old days and very delicious. They seem a bit larger too.

They completely renovated the back porch area to be an indoor space with flowers and plants, it is beautiful. With a cool full bar back there as well. It has such a great vibe!

The place seem well staffed with multiple people attending each table. Everyone wore masks and was very friendly. Super classy in a casual atmosphere!

It’s nice to see a place like Public House revamp for the new era. Definitely worth checking out an old favorite once again.

Yas, yas, yas! Very LGBTQ+ friendly restaurant in the heart of super cute Ferndale, Public House was recommended because of it’s vegan options and they did not disappoint. The interior was ultra cool, with a beautiful floral motif and a few rainbow flags, which made me feel pretty welcome. The menu has some dedicated vegan items (highlighted in a section of the menu), though it’s not a vegan restaurant and I tried the Hot “Honey’ Maitake, and my mom the Black Bean Burger, with some Brussels Sprouts to start. My burger was incredible, oozing with umami and my mom, who usually only eats half of her burgers, ate the whole thing so quickly I didn’t even get a bite! The Brussels Sprouts were absolutely out of this world too. The staff were patient and lovely and as I mentioned, the decor really adds to the atmosphere in a positive way, yay!
