I sat at the bar and had the pleasure of being taken care of by Marcus, who was fantastic. Attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience feel welcoming from the moment I sat down.
I was torn between the Green Pie and the Clam Pie, but ultimately went with the clam since it’s a Wednesday-only special. That decision paid off in a big way. The clam pizza completely blew me away. It was perfectly balanced, briny and garlicky without being heavy, with an incredible crust that held everything together beautifully. Easily one of the best clam pies I’ve had.
To make the night even better, the couple sitting next to me overheard my indecision and generously let me try a slice of their Green Pie. It was outstanding as well. Fresh, vibrant, and packed with flavor. Honestly, you can’t go wrong either way.
Great food, great people, and an awesome bar experience. Il Rione is the kind of place that reminds you why great pizza is such a joy. I’ll absolutely be back.
No argument. The pizza is absolutely delicious. The sauce, the wine, everything was perfect. The flavors really live up to the hype.
The only downside is the wait time, it took us nearly two hours to get in, but honestly, it was worth it. The service felt a bit rushed, though, and we didn’t really get the chance to take our time and enjoy the meal the way we wanted.
The staff was quick and efficient. We started with a meat and cheese tray that came with three types of meats, three types of cheeses, sliced baguette and bread drizzled with olive oil, plus a small selection of olives. It was a great appetizer to kick things off.
We ordered five pizzas, and they came out surprisingly fast. Here’s a quick rundown:
White Pie: If you like white sauce, garlic, and a touch of sweetness from honey, this one’s for you.
Sausage and Red Pepper: This was a hit—my husband especially loved it. The red peppers were sweet and the sausage had great flavor.
Margherita: Tasty but could’ve used a bit more basil.
Speck: None of us had tried this before. It was okay, but didn’t stand out compared to the others.
Pepperoni: Built on a margherita-style base with tons of crispy, curled pepperoni. Definitely a crowd-pleaser.
Our waitress was on top of refills, and the rest of the staff quickly cleared empty plates and trays as we finished. From start to finish, we were in and out in about two hours.
Overall, it was a great experience. I’d definitely recommend giving this place a try!
Now let’s talk about the pizza. My experience was not good at all. We ordered the speck pie (the speck was overcooked, which makes it lose its delicious flavor and turns it bitter, and when combined with lemon it wasn’t a pleasant taste). The ricotta was also overcooked, so it loses its delicate touch, turning something tasty into something disgusting.
The other pizza we ordered was the sausage pie, a total disappointment. It felt like eating pasta with marinara sauce and it had very little cheese.
The customer service is normal ; they seem so concerned about the long line that it feels like, “Just eat, get it over with, bye.” They don’t even provide a spatula for serving the pizzas.
We definitely won’t be going back. As people who have eaten in different cities and countries, it’s a shame how low the standards are here; they don’t know what good food is.
