Master Chef Carlo Cappiello uses only the best quality freshest ingredients to prepare delicious meals for everyone. Born in the small town of Sorrento, Italy. Much of Carlo’s support came from his family and his intensive training in the “Culinary Art of Food Preparation”. For several years Carlo worked in the prestigious Grand Hotel in Paris and was accredited as an “Executive Chef”. He continued to explore a new direction to the USA. His innovative and creative ability allowed him to transform many of Italy’s “Old Traditional Dishes” into Culinary Masterpieces. From 2005-2006, he furthered his training in Italy and was honorably awarded a five star certificate and other accomplished chef degrees which he has brought to Morehead City.

We had a wonderful dinner last night for our anniversary at Casa San Carlo! Carlo and his team are the best! Great wine selection (we chose a Chianti). Our meals were fantastic! They even surprised us with an anniversary treat! Thank you Carlo!!

My husband and I went here for the first time on Valentine’s Day. He had made a reservation about a week beforehand for 6:30pm. We got there a few minutes early and the hostess tells us we have to wait for a table because they had a swarm of people just walk in and got seated before us. So this tells me that their reservations don’t mean anything and it’s just first come, first serve. We stood there waiting for a table for about 20 minutes before they seated us at the farthest back table right next to the kitchen and the bathrooms. We were surprised that there was even a table placed here. We could barely hear each other over the noisy kitchen let alone having people constantly walking by us to go to and from the bathrooms just a few feet away. We asked to be moved to a better table that would hopefully be a more enjoyable experience for us. Once we moved to another table , things started fine and we had our soup, salad, and ordered our main courses. After more than an hour (no exaggeration) goes by, we asked the waitress twice where our dinner food was and she went back twice to find out. She said something like we were 3rd in line to get our food and then she kept saying that she would go ask again to find out. We even saw the couple next to us who came in way later than us get their main courses right away. They had definitely forgotten about us and we didn’t end up getting our dinners until almost 9:30pm! No one came out to speak to us and apologize for any of this and we should have just asked to speak to the manager ourselves. By then, we were just feeling tired and frustrated. Mind you, we live about 40 minutes away and still had a long drive home. We were ready to walk out and probably should have at this point.. we would have saved ourselves the money that we wasted on this horrible place. When we finally got our dinners, we got them to go so we could just leave. We told the waitress that we wanted a discount for all of these inconveniences. They took off about $15 from the bill, but it was still over $100 and not worth it at all. I kid you not.. this whole experience was like something out of a comedy movie. We do not recommend this place and will never go here again.

Had an incredible experience at casa San Carlo! The table bread was soft and garlicky, the clams casino were great and when the menu says they’re generous portions they aren’t kidding! On top of the delicious food the service was soooo good. It was very much a family Italian restaurant feel and our server (I believe her name was Michelle but I could be mistaken) was so nice and even took photos of my and my husband which was very sweet of her. Will definitely be returning next time we’re in town

We tried this place for the first time on 2/15/25. We were greeted and seated quickly. Our server’s name was Riley. Though quite young (21), she was hands down one of the best servers we’ve had in a long time. She was professional and well spoken beyond her years. She was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and drink options. She even advised us that substitutions were no problem, and highly recommended the sherry sauce as her favorite on the pasta. She recommended two dishes from their Specials Menu. I had the Chilean Sea Bass, which was served with mussels, clams, and shrimp over pasta, and my wife had a dish with scallops and shrimp over fettuccine (I can’t remember the name of the dish). Both were absolutely amazing. Riley also gave us a recommendation on a cocktail for my wife and beer for myself. Both were very good. Chef Carlo came to our table twice to make sure everything was perfect. We saw him visit with guests on multiple occasions while we were there. Hands down, the best Italian food we’ve ever had, and our server made the experience even better. We will definitely be returning, and we will be requesting Riley.

Had to take food to go and it was so amazingly wonderful great delicious, as well as fresh and hot. But it was so amazingly wonderful.. and the dessert was one of the best i had ever had.. The owner was one of the sweetest guys i have meet in a long time. I will be getting more food from there soon and recommend you do the same..I am literally going back tomorrow night for more delicious desserts..

Great food and service. The owner is a joy to talk to. We really enjoyed our meals the salad were fantastic try the caprese salad, it’s unique. The Scallops alla Carlos is a great dish. Enjoy.

The food was really good, seemed quite authentic. The atmosphere is pretty good a little bit of an industrial look in the building. I think I would like it more if the bar was separated so you didn’t have the big TVs for everyone dining to see. What really stood out was the service, not only our waitress but the owner, lots of attention and personality without overdoing it. Large portions especially with the appetizer. We had lobster ravioli, lasagna, and meatball ravioli, the meatballs were Giant and delicious. Also nice to get a Caesar salad with anchovies available, to me the way it’s supposed to be served. All in all a great experience I will definitely be going back.

Amazing place. Food is 5 star and atmosphere is very charming. I had the pleasure of dining here on a Wednesday evening. On this particular evening I happened to be dining alone, so I set at the bar. Had a great cocktail and asked for the special. cooked and also was created by the chef. Music playing in the background as we chatted. I highly recommend Casa San Carlo as one of the best restaurants in Morehead.

My family and I came in for dinner and everything about this restaurant is Amazing! Food, atmosphere, service 10 stars plus! I live in Charlotte and can’t wait to come back! The cocktails were delicious.

1st visit: 5 stars — Our go to place in Morehead now. Cozy atmosphere, great food, excellent wait staff. Busy on a Wednesday.
2nd visit: 3 stars — Went back the next night and not as good an experience. Waitress nervous and way too chatty. I think they forgot my meal and it came out much later than my husband’s. His Chicken Favoloso was beautiful but too salty.
However, my moscato was delicious, and the bread was wonderful.
3rd visit: another lovely dinner! My husband ordered the tortellini bolognese, which was fabulous. As soon as I tasted a bite, we agreed to swap meals. He ended up with my tortellini pomodoro Fresca, bright and fresh. Our friends split an eggplant rolitini, which was plenty, with a side salad each, plus a side of spaghetti. Very lovely evening.
The decor is a bit modern/industrial for my taste.
4th visit! Lovely again. I ordered the tortellini Bolognese and my hubby ordered the chicken capriccioso. By the end, we’d swapped plates again, haha. Delicious mouth feel and aftertaste. Very relaxing atmosphere on Jan. 2, very quiet and slow.
Creme brulee cheesecake for dessert.
