Great food, went here for live music and was not disappointed! Prime rib was good for its price, esp with the sides (I’d rec getting bacon on the side as you get more). Get extra au jous. Pls do not get the cheesecake. Potentially one of the worst cheesecakes I’ve had in my life. Pls do not get the cheesecake. It’s so bad. Pls.

Good food. Good vibe. Awful cheesecake (do not get).

Great deal on the Prime Rib — only $19.99 for dinner Thursday through Sunday! You can’t beat that. The medium rare was cooked perfectly, and all the servers were super kind and checked in often to make sure everything was okay. Definitely coming back!

Mr. Peabody Bar and Grill Review

Nestled at 136 Encinitas Blvd, just a stone’s throw from the Pacific Ocean, Mr. Peabody Bar and Grill offers a fantastic dining experience with an unbeatable location. Our evening began at “The Regal Seagull,” where a kind woman named Shelly recommended Mr. Peabody’s just before closing time. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly bartender who told us to sit wherever we liked and assured us that a waitress or waiter would assist us shortly.

We visited on a Wednesday night and were thrilled to discover their wonderful happy hour deals on both food and beverages. Our party ordered a variety of dishes, starting with appetizers like potato croquettes, and followed by main courses including wings, baby back ribs, shrimp cocktail, a chicken sandwich, and onion soup. Every dish was flavorful and exceeded our expectations. The happy hour pricing provided incredible value for the quality and quantity of food we enjoyed.

A special shout-out to our excellent waitresses, Kaylyn and Alyssa. They were exceptionally friendly, attentive, and gave great recommendations that enhanced our dining experience.

Adding to the vibrant atmosphere, there was a classic rock cover band playing some timeless hits that did not disappoint. The live music was a perfect backdrop to our enjoyable evening.

Mr. Peabody Bar and Grill is a gem in Encinitas, ideal for a casual night out with friends or a cozy dinner by the ocean. With excellent service, delicious food, and unbeatable happy hour deals, it’s a must-visit spot. Highly recommended!

My fourth time here but my first review. Came here before for breakfast which was pretty good but not worthy of a review. This time around I had the happy hour pork ribs, wings, and loaded baked potato. The ribs were tender the chicken wings were tasty little spicy two and a little big potatoes always good. The service all four times has been pretty good, some are more on the salty side which sort of fits the area near the sea but nonetheless they’ve been professional. Definitely check out the happy hour I think it’s worth the price and get there early before it gets too busy.

The server really struggled the night we were there. But I love the atmosphere and the live band. Food was pretty typical bar food.

This establishment serves 14 ounce “pints”. They are aware of this as per a conversation with the bartender. I’d been coming here for years and as I discovered this the bartender didn’t seem to care but shrugged it off as a point of business instead of trying to appease the customer.

I went to Mr. Peabody to see a friend perform. The place was packed and unfortunately I ordered the Prime Rib special, biggest mistake I ever made. The prime rib was so tough and tasteless that I could barely chew it (forgot to take pictures)
The loaded baked potato was very good and so was the vegetable. The service was pretty bad because there was only one server working every table, I really felt bad for the guy so I tipped him well.

Went here a Friday afternoon to get some “bar” food. I think they were under staffed this evening because the food took an hour to get to the table. Appetizers and main course came at the same time. Girl who served us definitely gets a 5⭐️.

5⭐️ – Chicken wings are delish. Deep fried before covered with thick and smooth sauce. ( BBQ )

1⭐️ – French Onion soup. Have to say terrible. To fat, a square piece of cheese on top floating on top of the bread and onions. With some chives sprinkled on top. Picture on the menu ( an actually baked French Onion Soup) is the opposite from what is served. We did not even finish 20% of it.

4⭐️ -Fish and Chips. Very good and the fish was delish. French fries with a great crisp and not to greasy.

4⭐️ – BLT . A fresh and nice dish. A good piece of bread with fresh tomato, avocado, lettuce and of course bacon. We had it with Caesar salad, a good and okey CS.

All served on paper and plastic plates ( not the soup ) I know we sat outside but paper/plastic plates takes the edge out of everything.

Once again, the girl who served us was great and did everything to make us feel welcomed , even if it took so long for the food.

Tonight was our Sunday take-out Prime Rib dinner the wife and I will split for $20 ($19.99). TO – GO!!! Note my previous review @ $21.99. Also note the size is 12oz compared to local casino and other prime rib stops locally @ 8 and 10oz portions.

We arrived just before 6pm and the band looked like it was setting up. The service staff that greeted me at the door were efficient and friendly. They gladly took my credit card and brought my food out in a nice paper bag – with handles. Fancy schmancy! And the bag was heavy. I called the huge, loaded potato as being the cause, and I was right. Very large russet. Very tasty with skin on. I think they must salt the skin.

The prime rib was delicious and cooked perfectly to our desire. The mushrooms were satisfactorily prepared and plated to the side. But the entire dinner plate was carefully placed and plated in to-go packaging . It looked great upon opening.

A terrific take-out experience.

I visited Mr. Peabody’s Bar & Grill on a Sunday night and was blown away by the experience. The highlight? The Jazz Jam Session featuring the incredible David Borgo and his talented friends. Their performance was nothing short of mesmerizing—a treat for any jazz enthusiast.

The food is good—classic bar and grill fare that hits the spot—but let’s be honest: the real reason to come here on a Sunday night is the music. The atmosphere was vibrant, the musicians were top-notch, and the crowd clearly shared the same love for jazz. If you’re a fan of live music, you absolutely won’t be disappointed. I promise!

Whether you’re a local or just passing through Encinitas, make Mr. Peabody’s your Sunday night destination. You’ll leave with your heart full of jazz and your soul thoroughly satisfied. Highly recommended!
