Review of Soprano’s – Sunday, February 23rd, 2025

I drove to Soprano’s today, hoping to get one of the last remaining Cinnamon Twists that they make on Fridays. Luckily, there were two left, and I bought them. However, the inconsistent quality of their baked goods is particularly disappointing, and the attitude of complete and utter disregard by the male front counter clerks is shocking.

When I asked about various baked goods, they had no idea what they were and showed no desire to actually provide customer service by finding out answers to my questions. If the counter clerks are going to dismiss customer inquiries, then why not create signs for the baked goods so customers can identify muffins, pastries, and other items? As a Chef, I find it appalling that the staff aren’t better prepared to serve customers or represent Soprano’s professionally. If this is the level of service they’re trained to provide, then it reflects poorly on the owner’s priorities and standards.

I generally enjoy most of their pizzas, but the meatballs are overly salty, tasting as if they’ve been marinating in sea water. Why not use a blend of spices and herbs for flavor instead? Reducing the salt or hiring someone who actually knows how to make meatballs would be a significant improvement.

Outside, as I was getting into my vehicle, I spoke with the kitchen manager (who was on a cigarette break) about the meatballs and the coffee machine cartridge being out of coffee (which happens to be Folgers, a poor choice for quality coffee). My feedback seemed to fall on less-than-receptive ears, suggesting that this dismissive attitude might be how the place is managed overall.

Attention, Mr. Owner: You have a great market and a business that needs your attention and care. If you’re unable or unwilling to manage it properly, hire someone who truly understands the food industry and knows how to train staff effectively. Your establishment has potential, but it requires dedication to consistent quality, improved service, and attention to detail.

I really didn’t go inside this place. I transport Railroad Crews around to wherever they need to go to and some of the Crews ask me if we can stop here on our way to Gangmills, NY (train yard). But the way they talk, this place is phenomenal to say the least.

The food & service left a lot to be desired. We came up to the counter to order food & looked at the menu for a few minutes. Within that time there was a young man with blonde hair & pajama pants behind the counter who seemed to be preoccupied. It took 5 minutes to be acknowledged & there wasn’t even a hello, just an expectant look as he grabbed pen & paper to take our order. We both got subs and a side of onion rings. We waited about 25 minutes for those subs, all while the other staff behind the counter started to panic & started swearing, yelling… maybe they were behind on orders? By the time we got our subs our onion rings had never been made so we waited a few more minutes for those. I would have been okay & understanding waiting if the food had come out decent but it did not. The vegetables in the sub were mushy, tasteless, honestly inedible. I ended up throwing them away because I just couldn’t do it. The onion rings were almost black & had a taste like the oil hadn’t been changed in a while. We also got cannolis which were stale & tasted like they had been sitting for a while. I was also concerned to still see Halloween cookies for sale?? At the time of this review it is currently early December, why are there still cookies from Halloween for sale? I don’t like leaving reviews like this on small businesses but I also can’t pretend we had a good experience, everything fell short & honestly too pricey to be making these kinds of mistakes & having such terrible customer service/unprofessionalism. I used to love coming here, I am not sure what has changed.

I don’t usually write reviews but I’ve been searching for the best Rueben and I’ve tried about 200 places at this point, genuinely this was THE best Rueben I’ve ever had in my life! You are not going to regret stopping here! Also the staff was super nice and personable and it was very affordable for what you get!

I received my $37 back after the inedible pizza we ordered. Had to fight to get it. This unfortunately was my last straw with this company. The manager, who doesn’t know what to do in tough situations, shouldn’t be a manager, they should recheck the quality before it leaves the restaurant. And customer service should be a priority especially for the high cost pizza that you can get cheaper and better elsewhere. Sad it’s come to this. Used to be a great pizza place.

Sopranos is an absolute beauty of a place. Highly recommend it for anyone traveling along 86 and looking for a better food option for a quick stop. Amazing fresh sandwiches, pizza and steam table options. Lots of great sweets and baked goods too.

We picked up the Panettone bread for Christmas morning and when we opened it it was covered in plastic bristles. This is the second time we’ve gotten terrible products from here. If you picked this up for Christmas please inspect your bread. We will be calling tomorrow and bringing this back. Terrible… We also had gotten the homemade breadcrumbs months ago and they were filled with crushed iced cookies. We called and told them and they did make it right but there seems to be no quality control for the food coming out of this place.
