⭐ Disappointed with the recent changes to “The Chad”
My family has always loved “The Chad”—it’s been our go-to order because it satisfies all three of us: my husband, teenage son, and me. We’ve appreciated how generous the portions used to be. Typically, ordering two would feed us all with leftovers for lunch the next day.
However, when I ordered on 10/24/25, I noticed the price had jumped to $18. I assumed it was due to rising food costs, which I understand. But what surprised me was the drastic reduction in portion size. I only ordered one this time since my son wasn’t home, and what we received was disappointing.
There was noticeably less rice and meat (both chicken and steak), and only three shrimp. The bulk of the meal was onions and green peppers—far from the hearty, balanced dish we’ve come to expect. For $18, it simply didn’t deliver the value or satisfaction we’re used to.
I truly hope this isn’t the new norm. We’ve always looked forward to ordering from here, but this experience left us questioning whether it’s still worth it.

Other than the fact that we had to use our phone flash to read the menus because it was dark, we had a great meal together. The photos and video are not great because of the natural light I chose to use. The food was delicious. I just didn’t enjoy my elote (street corn on the cobb) very much because it was dry, so I’m not sure if it was overcooked or just old corn, not sure, but the rest was great! I really enjoyed my salmon with rice, salsa, tomal and salad. It was delicious! The server was great. Brought ua everything we needed. She did, although seem a bit sad? Too serious? I felt like I visited an actual authentic restaurant outside of the US because they don’t do fake, cheesy, customer service smiles for money the way americans do at many places. It didn’t bother us too much, but it makes me wonder if she was tired, sad or just uninterested. I tried talking to her in Spanish and she just replied coldly in English because I was my English speaking friends maybe? I don’t know, but I hope that the server is not just completely miserable at her job and is always this way without being, uhmm… ” Somewhat delightfully cheerful”?! Not sure I read, great people’s skills vibe from her. But, as far as her job, she did amazing! We got our food fast. She checked on us constantly, brought us everything in a timely fashion. So. I would not mind having her serve us again.
The parte platters my friends ordered looked delicious!
I’ll definitely want to go again.
The prices were sort of average for the plates but still on the high side, I couldn’t really find a normal meal under $15, they were mostly $17 and up when I didn’t really order anything fancy, the salmon just came with rice and salad and a very small tómale. So. Overall, the experience was mostly enjoyable.
If you’re looking for an actual mexican restaurant, this is not it. The food had flavor but it didn’t have FLAVOR! It’s your typical Mexi-merican, Tex-mex, comfort food, services by apparently a chain restaurant. The vibe inside is cool! I like the decor. So, it felt like, a lower quality mexican version of “olive garden”. If you’re focused on time with your friends and family and are not looking for anything great, it’s a convenient place to go out in my opinion.
I’ve read the bad reviews just now. If you do decide to go after reading my review, I’d encourage you to complain with respect if there is something they can do better, they can be informed and be given an opportunity to handle the situation and make an effort to make it better.

The food was good. But don’t expect to get a reasonable price for your food if you come with a group of 6 or more and split the checks. They will tack on an 18% Large Party Gratuity Tax to Both Group’s Checks without telling you. I bought food for 2 adults and 2 kids and it was almost $70.

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants and locations, however, I can no longer say this. After ordering our food online as we often do now due to in person experiences being less than ideal. I was completely expecting the usual quality and quantity that we normally get as the menu doesn’t show any changes. Let me preface this with, I know ALL food establishments are continuously upping their prices. The problem is that Charanda apparently decided to also downsize their dip quantities without acknowledging it on their menus. So that you are now paying $5.99 for a very small 4oz container (that was only 2/3 full mind you). When I called to inquire, thinking they must have mistakenly given us “a side” instead of the Appetizer portion, the young lady first assured me that I had ordered the appetizer size… yes I know that I did. When I tried to explain that we were not given our “usual” she first asked if I could come back to get them (we had 2) when I said yes she hesitated and then proceeded to inform me (quite rudely mind you) that they had changed the portion sizes a few weeks ago and that I had indeed received the correct amount. At this point I asked to speak with the manager. I then had to go through the whole process with him. When I expressed that it was not ok to reduce portions without showing the change on the menu especially when you have raised the cost, he just pretty much told me that they have no control over the online menus and cannot make those changes. In which I explained that I understood he can’t change DoorDash or grubhubs but they do have control over their own websites menu, which was not changed either. As a consumer I am entitled to know what I am ordering and spending my money on. If I had know what the ridiculously small amount they’re offering for $6.00 I would have NEVER ordered them. Which I am assuming is the reason they are not stating the change on their menu. I doubt anyone would want to spend their hard-earned money on it either. I always try to support our locally owned Small businesses But I am not going to support a business that is taking advantage of their customers and blowing them off or being rude to them when questioning a legitimate concern. Do better Charanda owners.

Always a great time! The staff is very fun and the crowd always friendly. Service is fast, even when crowded. On Wednesdays there is free music bingo, and Fridays always a lively bar crowd.

It’s just your typical Mexican restaurant with typical American Mexican food. The service was average, certainly not bad, but pretty slow. Everyone enjoyed their food. No complaints.
