Gilda’s was the last meal in California for our honeymoon, and I honestly wish we had found it sooner in our trip!!

The waiter was super nice and personable, and the food was delicious!! My husband got chicken fried steak and eggs, which was a fresh, in house made chicken fried steak. I got the crab cakes benedict. The crab cakes were thick and majority meat. I would have got a plate of them on their own, but they were even better in the hollandaise.

We were there very early, so I dunno if they get busy, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they do. But the breakfast was 11 out of 10 in my book.

I had the Dungeness crab cake benedict! She had biscuits and gravy, short stack! By far the best breakfast we’ve had in a long time and the view was beautiful

This review is mostly about the Duchess Crab Cake Egg Benedict. It was not flavorful and didn’t taste like much, you can taste just a tiny bit of seasoning from the crab cakes but the rest was bland, the english muffin, egg, and even the sauce that comes on it. I saw great reviews about these online but in my experience I would not recommend.

We came on a Thursday afternoon for happy hour. Got a drink and beer for $8 each. Server was very friendly and noticed my husband didn’t like his beer so she asked if she can replace it with another kind at no cost to us. Second beer was much more delicious compared to the first (light) one that tasted watered down.
Very old and “tired” building inside and out, it’s dated and due for a makeover; the atmosphere is of a “cafe/diner” rather than an oceanside restaurant.
Got the $16 salmon special to go.

It was one of the less crowded spots on the wharf on a busy holiday weekend, and we appreciated being seated immediately with no wait. The vibe was cozy and relaxed. Waiter was friendly and made sure that we had our drinks refilled when needed. I ordered the seafood linguine and husband had salmon. Both meals were delicious. We will be back again!

I had the Wednesday Prime Rib Special, and it was delicious. My waitress was very sweet and attentive at the right time.

The dinner food was good. The crab cakes and calamari were good but a little peppery. I would’ve liked a bigger portion for the cost. The snapper was good, and my daughter loved the shrimp and crab sandwich. The rest of the food was good. It was really cool to sit next to the window and watch the sea lions play in the ocean during the whole meal. We would go back again however I’d probably try a different place on the wharf next time. We all enjoyed the whole experience.

My rule of any Pier I walk on, “Walk to the end to spot out any hidden gems,” and that rule has once again successfully scored me a great time. Was the place near empty when we cane in, yes, but don’t let that fool ya. I wasn’t really hungry, so i just got a Bloody Mary with a side of fries. My boyfriend got an IPA and the chowder. The food was awesome. I wish I had room in my stomach. I would’ve gotten more! Collin was our server, and he was not only very professional but courteous. When we told him it was our birthday week, we were given a birthday ice cream. I really appreciate the sweet service. Next time, I’m in town. I’ll definitely make my way down.

This is a historic place on the Santa Cruz wharf. Unfortunately the food was average at best. Typical diner/cafe quality. The staff and views are amazing. I’m sure Gilda started out with amazing food in the 70’s, but sadly it’s not what it was.

We came here to eat breakfast and had the seafood omelette. The portions are massive and you can split one meal for 2. The food is good but not the best I’ve ever had. The atmosphere is pretty nostalgic and the workers are super friendly. I don’t think I’ve had better service anywhere else.
