We are from Wisconsin, and get down to Naples for a short visit once a year – we always make sure to stop at Grouper & Chips at least once during our visit. The food is delicious! We love the fresh, local grouper! We have tasted it fried, blackened and sautéed – you can’t go wrong! The service is always delightful and friendly. Well worth any wait for a table at this local family run restaurant. Oh, and the soups are amazing too!

Grouper & Chips delivers seafood the way it should be done—fresh, thoughtful, and consistently excellent.

The New England seafood chowder is rich and comforting without being heavy. I had the linguine with blackened grouper, and it was outstanding: perfectly seasoned, flaky fish tossed with olive oil, garlic, fresh vegetables, and their signature lemon beurre blanc, finished with a warm petite pan roll.

The tempura-battered grouper and fries is a classic for a reason—ultra-fresh fish, light and crispy batter, never greasy, with solid fries, fresh coleslaw, and great tartar sauce.

Do not skip dessert. The “Dark & Tart” key lime pie with chocolate mousse is bright, tangy, creamy, and indulgent in the best way.

Great food, genuinely friendly service, and consistent execution make this a must-eat in Naples.
Ps the place is tiny and cozy so be prepared to wait during prime dinner hours, but it’s totally worthwhile

After a long day of work I was in need of a refreshment and some food. I bypassed my normal haunts on 5th Street and continued to Grouper and Chips. I arrived at peak dinner time and the indoor seating was full. Fortunately I was able to sit outside while enjoying some ice tea as a table cleared.

I was locked in on the grouper basket and was torn between fried and blackened. Fortunately they were able to make me 2 fried and 1 blackened—both were truly outstanding. Fresh, perfectly cooked. I would have been satisfied with 2 piece basket but was happy to have 3 pieces. Although not the star of the meal the basket comes with cole slaw and fries. A truly excellent meal with excellent service—my tea never ran empty.

I came for the Key Lime pie and it was an excellent finish to a perfect meal out.

We were recommended Grouper and Chips in 2023. We had to visit again this year. Good quality food and service at reasonable prices. Absolutely recommended if you’re in the area. The mussels are devine.

What a letdown! Don’t let the photos fool you. We were really looking forward to a great meal at a place with a 4.6-star rating, but our experience was far from it.
First off, the restaurant was uncomfortably warm; the AC needs some serious attention. Then came the food, and unfortunately, it was a disappointment from start to finish. The seafood chowder had a strong, fishy smell that was so off-putting I only had a single bite. My husband, bless his heart, finished it just so the $11 wouldn’t go to waste. The hush puppies were small and dry.
We both ordered the 1/2 shrimp and 1/2 grouper fried meals, and the food was incredibly lackluster. The fries and coleslaw were decent, and the shrimp were just okay—they could have used a lot more seasoning. The real problem was the grouper. It was tasteless and tough, almost certainly overcooked. It’s baffling how a battered and fried fish could have zero crunch and zero flavor, but they managed to perfect it. We weren’t the only ones who thought so, either; the table behind us even sent their fried grouper back.
The small seating area felt cramped, and the service wasn’t great. Our waitresses seemed more interested in chatting with their “regular” customers than checking on everyone else. As frequent travelers who rely on honest reviews, and leave honest reviews we absolutely cannot recommend this place. We ended up wasting $100 on a lunch that was profoundly underwhelming.

The service was great. The food was great from the soup to the entrees. We will definitely be back.

Don’t let the unassuming exterior detour you from walking in. This place has some of the freshest grouper in town. And offered at a reasonable price (compared to other places in the area).

My wife and I both went for the grouper in two different ways. I selected a basket with 2 pieces that were fried, which also came with fries and coleslaw. My wife chose blackened, with the same sides.

My grouper was super fresh, and tasted fantastic! But I have to say, my wife’s blackened grouper looked equally good, and she loved hers as well.

And the service was wonderful also! Very friendly wait staff that was regularly checking in with us.

But there is more. Just when we thought we were done, our server high recommended the key lime pie. We had just enough room to share a piece, and, oh man, were we so happy we did. One of the better ones I’ve had in a long time!

Needless to say, we must come back to sample more!

I will be back. Quaint simple space with a manageable menu. Easy street and lot parking close to door. Staff was knowledgeable on offerings and made suggestions.

Grouper & Chips has been open almost 30 years and they feature fresh caught grouper served daily!

We went with a fried grouper sandwich basket, blackened grouper tacos, conch fritters, and a cup of grouper chowder.

You could taste the freshness in every bite! Worth the wait to get a table (it’s a small spot in a strip mall), but you can tell the locals love eating there.

We stumbled upon this place in Naples for a quick dinner. The service was friendly and fast, and the place is small with a few tables inside. My boyfriend had the blackened grouper taco and enjoyed it. I had the sautéed grouper with buerre blanc sauce; my dish was light and delicious yet very satisfying. I tried the clam chowder, and this too was really good. This was a great find.
