It’s interesting and definitely unique. The chef is particular about not doing substitutions because he wants you to take the dish exactly as he envisions it… which may work for some, but probably not all.

I can’t eat asparagus, and it was difficult to convince them to sub it out for something I would eat. Even the waitress remarked about how particular the chef is, and how this is “fine-dining.” So just be aware of that going into it.

Food is good but not amazing. I’d recommend the short rib but probably not the pork belly. Cocktails were solid and definitely not weak. The vibe and environment are great. It has a cool rustic feel as an old train station.

If you’re looking for something different and unique, with specific choices that are fairly rigid and you’re okay with that, this would be a spot you should check out. You may love it! If you like choosing your sides and having some variety, maybe not so much.

I cannot say enough about Caleb. He was tentative, and had excellent multitasking skills between the bar and multiple tables including ours. The food was extremely fresh. I recommend the fried green tomatoes and the chicken sandwich. We will 100% be back and would recommend this to any of our friends and family.

Absolutely amazing!
We went here for Saturday brunch. They opened at 10:30 and when we arrived shortly after, the restaurant was already filling up. The host asked if we had a reservation, and although we did not and were be able to be seated immediately, it may be worth checking into as it was very busy by the time we left.

We had the Eggs Benedict with Salt Cured Salmon and the Shrimp and Grits. Both were delicious. They also had a buffet option, but we opted for the menu. The food came out very quickly and hot!

Would definitely recommend and will be back!

The customer service was great and a very cool restaurant. I like the vibe, I think it would be great for watching the game as well. My husband loved his salmon but the pork meal I had was too salty for me. The manager and server understood and accommodated me which I appreciate. They really did everything to make sure I was satisfied without me asking. I would go back and try something different. The drinks were good. We had a side of the gouda mac n cheese, OMG that was delicious (highly recommend). Cool spot, outdoor seating on a cooler day

Amy T. and Chef Z. made us feel even better than at home. We sat at the bar with Amy, who was inviting, real, and a delight to speak with. Chef Zo presented us with dishes that were not only beautiful in presentation, but masterful in crafted taste.

The menu can best be described as an assortment of classic southern comfort dishes complimented by unique blends of unexpected flavors, setting this place apart from other comparable food joints. It’s a real feel-at-home spot, as opposed to an upscale fine-dining venue. As a first-timer I came in with no expectations and was surprised that I was still mind-blown after our meal, so much so that I took the time to leave this review for the next person to hopefully find.

1st Impression: 9/10 (unique inside and out)
Menu Impression: 9/10 (intimidating flavors/plate combinations)
Drinks: 9/10 (Water-clean / Irish Coffee-smooth)
Appetizers: 10/10 (chicken bites-perfectly glazed / seared brussels-such a unique flavor)
Plate Presentation: 11/10 (The food here even looks better than fine dining, even down to the plating details, such as the dusted paprika and parsley. It just looks more appetizing.)
Dining Flavor: 11/10 (Twas unexpected how well each menu dish had been prepared. Not one ingredient was overbearing or out of place.)
Overall Appeal: 10/10 would recommend to family, friends, and people walking on the street. Really anyone/everyone is welcomed here.

Updated: 3/1/2021: Just saw my previous reviews. I keep coming back because the food is great. The service was slow AGAIN. We both ordered chicken Cobb salad but it was probably 15-20 minutes before it came out. And was a while before the waitress checked on us to even take our order.

I hope Mgmt reads reviews and will finally address the slow service. The last 3 of 4 times were not during busy service times.

Food was great as always.

Service was a little slow, maybe because we were outside. Our drinks were not filled unless we specifically asked for it. Server was friendly, just wish she were a little more attentive. Felt like we were forgotten since we sat outside.

Would like to give 5 stars but the service knocks it down for me.

Great atmosphere. Great staff. The spirit of the staff youth brings energy and compliments Freight Kitchen & Tap. Great place. Eclectic menu. Large beer tap selection continually rotating. Fantastic local selection. Drink menu is pretty vast and will accommodate every palette. Stop by and you might get as close as you will ever get to a freight train! Ask for Madison – she is terrific!

Freight Kitchen & Tap was absolutely amazing! I went for brunch and it was full so get there early if you want to get in for brunch! The mimosa I got was fabulous and very tasty. The shrimp and grits were delicious! Super creamy and flavorful! My meal was delicious! (I forgot what its called). The sausage was cooked great, the eggs were fluffy and the home fries were perfect! The biscuit was nothing to sing about but it was good. Just be aware that this place is in downtown Woodstock so be prepared to either park and walk or drive around a bit to find a spot. There is a parking lot next to the restaurant but it is public parking so it fills up fast.

Service and food absolutely amazing from appetizers to entrees. Fried Avocado and Ravioli was phenomenal (portobello mushrooms and goat cheese) don’t get me started on the Zoodles and Shrimp! Chef Chris and Chase thank you for the great experience. I would definitely recommend everyone to visit and enjoy the food and drinks.
