When I came I t Cleveland 30 years ago, I would frequently visit the Canary’s restaurant, where the food was consistently excellent and satisfying. That was three decades ago. I haven’t been there for a long time, so I decided to go with my granddaughter recently, only to find it was the most disgusting meal I’ve ever eaten. I couldn’t even finish my plate because I was so revolted. I left the food untouched on my plate. The cup I received was filthy, with thick grease lining the bottom and residue that was literally stuck on. I asked for plastic silverware because I refused to put my mouth on the tarnished, greasy utensils. The food itself was much worse—potatoes that were undercooked and cold, eggs that looked rotten and had an unappealing smell, and bacon that was greasy and unappetizing. The tables were worn out, scratched, and unappealing, which added to the overall neglect. If you care about the quality of what you’re consuming, I strongly advise avoiding this place now. Looking at the current state of the cup and the table, I should have walked away from the start. My money was wasted on a terrible meal that I regret

Local eatery. The waitress, Candice, was excellent. The food was not that good. The beef barley soup (which I love) was not good at all. Candice asked me how the food was and when I nicely mentioned the soup, she was a sweetheart and offered me an alternative: I got a salad. The wife’s stuffed cabbage had cuman as a spice which is not normally what one would add to this dish. My chopped steak and green beans were very good as was my wife’s potato soup. We went there because it was near our hotel & it is a local eatery.

I had to visit Cleveland for a funeral and my family kept telling me they found this little restaurant/dinner. I should go try it. So before leaving Cleveland I stopped in. My kids needed to use the bathroom and there are 5 of them. 7 people because me and my husband. So they seat us and ask if we know what we want to drink. We say no not yet kinda waiting on everyone to use the bathroom and we will order together. So they set table bring menues. Then again ask about drinks and food. I repeat no my kids are still in the bathroom and we’d like to order together, as soon as everyone is seated we will be ready. A few seconds later anther waitress comes and asked if we was ready to order. I said dear lord why are yall so pushy, no we don’t know what we act because everyone hadn’t gotten back to the table and we haven’t all decided what we’re wanting. She yells that she’s not the other girls and she didn’t know. Now I’m like how many waitresses cares for one table. So then anther lady appears and tells us that we need to order or they will be closing the kitchen. It is just 130p I’m like that’s strange but ok were trying. So when I look at front of menu hrs are till 3pm on Sundays. But it was 130p. Any ways we all got seated looked at the venue and then picked our drinks snd food. It was ok ,no real complaints about anything. Except such small bathroom and short hrs and the pushy staff > hurry and buy< movie references- but I won't go back when I visit again. No need to be rushing to leave work so badly that your patrons feel pressured like that.

Outstanding experience all the way around! The food is fresh and hot since it is served so quickly after ordering. We had skillets and an omelet at our table. All were delicious. My husband’s rye toast wasn’t buttered but he just used jelly instead. Candice was our server and she was great! All of the staff work together coming around frequently to refill coffees and waters. The staff were dressed for Christmas Eve which made the mood very festive.

Great choice for breakfast. The Greek omelette and the veggie skillet were excellent and our food servers Sherry and Erica were amazing! Highly recommend to anyone in the area.

Great service, welcoming, friendly & attentive. Cheesey potato soup could have used more potato chunks, but it was very tasty. I also had the Greek salad, which had big chunks of feta cheese and homemade Greek dressing and warm pita bread. My husband got the bacon burger special & added mushrooms with fries. He said it was delicious!

Dined here with our family of 6 (4 teenagers) on a family trip. Loved the food and diner atmosphere (no TVs!). Hostess and wait staff greeted the regulars by name. Enjoyed the menu full of homey entrees. Will come back 100% if we have the opportunity.

based on this experience, if I could give 0 stars I would. this is not my first time here but it will definitely be my last. owner is extremely rude. waitress was rude and did not stop by our table. there is an inch of dust on the plastic plants they have hanging over tables where you sit and eat food. let me dive into for you!
my partner and I love to kick off our mornings by going to a local diner and playing cards while we wait for our food to come out. we are respectful and cautious of this if a diner is busy and they have people waiting for tables. our food comes out to our table, and l kid you not, not even 30 seconds later the owner comes to our table and tells us that he owns a busy diner and we cannot play cards here. I look around, there are at least 5 open tables (big tables) and absolutely nobody waiting, so like what’s the problem? there are plenty of other people sitting at their tables who have finished their food, just sitting and chatting, drinking their coffee, so what’s the difference? did he go talk to them? no.
once the owner came over to us, our waitress did not stop at our table once. not to check up on us, not to fill up our drinks, not to make sure everything tasted okay, we had to ask a different waitress for a box for our food when we were leaving. which leads me to believe that she told the owner on us. excuse but like grow up. if you were concerned about not getting enough tips from customers because someone in your section was going to be there for too long, let me tell you, you definitely lost out on a tip and now we purposely sat there longer
the dust on the plants is self explanatory. disgusting and a health violation. the plants are literally hanging over the tables and your food. somebody walks by too quickly and you’re getting dust on your food that’s been there for who knows how many years.

This place is absolutely incredible. From the moment you walk in until the second you leave, you’re treated like a beloved family member. The portions are large (so big we couldn’t finish!), the prices are completely reasonable, and the service is phenomenal.
The atmosphere comes complete with a variety of characters you’d expect to see at any hometown diner and we left so happy. This place feels like a warm hug. And Erica was the best part of the whole experience.
